Had a typical 'Heuringen' meal here, with the accompanying white wine 'spritzer'.Great local flavors on the meat and cheeses, wine was tasty and light - all perfect for a summer evening meal. It was raining a bit and therefore couldn't sit outside, which would have been great. However, I think if the meal had been outside, it would have gone on for a lot longer :-) .The town is not too far from the Vienna airport (plan on a 1/2 hour drive) but it's a nice drive to the village, through some vineyards. Der Eigentümer, Gustav Krug, ist nicht nur in der Weinszene ein bekanntes Gesicht. Auch als Heurigenwirt ist er eine Domäne. Sein Lokal in Gumpoldskirchen, das Alte Zechhaus, ist Teil des Ensembles mit Rathaus, Kirche und Schloss. Das Lokal ist aufgrund seines rustikalen, gediegenen Ambiente ist sehr beliebt – auch für Feierlichkeiten aller Art. Die Terrasse im Obergeschoss empfiehlt sich für gemütliche Abende mit Familie und Freunden. Das Personal ist freundlich und zuvorkommend. Auf der Speisekarte finden sich klassische Heurigengerichte. So die Weißweine als auch die Rotweine sind auf ausgezeichnetem Niveau. Sehr zu empfehlen ist bei den Weißweinen der "Kreuzweingarten".
