"Fantastic food, very good service (despite no English menu nor waiters speaking English, but I don't expect them to). Definitely try the pastel mozabre! Also if you're lucky a fried lay cat may try and say hello (before being kicked out by staff)."

We had an unforgettable time at De tal Palo Tapas Tavern! The catchy name reflects its Spanish saying meaning. “The apple doesn’t far from the tree”, “Chip off the old block”or “Like father like son”. The second half of this colloquial expression is “ Tal Astilla”, which, coincidently, is the name of the cocktail bar directly in front of the restaurant, owned by the same proprietor.. So, the complete expression is “De tal palo, tal astilla”. The delicious tapas, delightful servers, and unique history as a former olive oil museum with old machinery made the experience even more special. Highly recommended! Next, we will visit Tal Astilla Coctelbar, owned by the same proprietor. Cheers! Left G...

I originally really liked De Tal Palo when we visited in early 2018, it was buzzy with an exciting tapa sharing menu. But returning recently I was disappointed to find that standards quality has gone south while prices headed northwards! It’s easy to see how this has happened as the place is huge, and it gets really busy, so the kitchen struggles to get food out in time and to arrive hot. However, many other places manage to achieve this, and at more reasonable prices. The menu promises a lot, but just calling yourself a ‘gastro’ bar doesn’t give you license to charge €23 for a tiny octopus leg which is dry chewy, and nothing we ordered amongst 4 people was memorable. Almeria has a lot to of...

Having had this place recommended to us as doing great tapas we were greatly disappointed to discover that the menu lies. It says no tapas with water, orange or soft drinks . It should say only beer or wine as apparently large spirits don 't come in the offer. Drink was well presented at a good price but very disappointed I say again. There was no tapas. MENU IS MISLEADING.

It's clearly a place popular with the locals and we were lucky to grab a table, so many were turned away after we arrived. The food was great (octopus, risotto, aubergine and veggies). Yes there were no English menus, but we survived, and would heartily recommend straying slightly away from the normal tourist spots.
