Dee's Place - Réserver une table

Not from Michigan or familiar with the area. My dad and I were so excited to find this place on the side of highway that wasn’t a “fast food” chain. The lady taking our order was SO sweet and helpful and the kids outside on the picnic tables were telling us all about the community. Besides kids on bikes, we were the only people in a car. We weren’t even done with our food, and this man very rudely asked if that was our black car (a rental) and we said yes and he very rudely goes “well it would be nice if you moved your car right now and didn’t take up 3 spots”. First of all, this hole in the wall establishment didn’t even have parking sports marked so we honestly didn’t even know we weren’t in an “actual” spot. Plus the lot was completely empty at 3:00pm on a Thursday. We apologized and said we didn’t realize and he again got in our face about moving the car (which we were also sitting so close to we could touch it). I’m not sure his issue, but he is not a nice person to his customers let alone cares if a customer can finish the last bites of their meal in an empty lot, before moving the car and driving off. Needless to say, we just left and threw away the rest of our food because we have a long drive ahead of us. This breaks my heart because up until this encounter, we were enjoying ourselves and the banana malt for my dads 67th birthday. Don’t spend money here you’ll be treated poorly and have the owner get in your face and berate you. Delicious food, terrible hospitality by the owner (which is the saddest part that he owns this place).

Dee's is only open during the summer season. During that time you can get both food and ice cream. My favorite food item is the walking taco, which is taco meat added to a bag of doritos or fritos with typical taco toppings. For ice cream, I like to get the strawberry short cake treat with no whip. They do make sure you get large portions, so I remove whip cream from everything so it's not over-flowing. I also enjoy the watermelon slush. Each year they add something new and are always working to improve their business.

A great location on the waterfront with outside picnic tables for seating. A variety of food options (see menu pics) and ice cream options. My food is always hot, fresh, and delicious and the staff is always friendly. Mostly it's popular for ice cream for good reason. And it's right off the highway!

Great ice cream. Love the Cinnamon Roll flavor!! Nice tables to sit on out back by water.
