The atmosphere is vibrant and lively, but it can get a bit noisy inside due to the music. If you're looking to have a good conversation with friends, family, or coworkers, I suggest opting for a table upstairs or dining outside. The bartender—dressed in black and not wearing a floral vest—was absolutely delightful. I enjoyed tapas, drinks, and dessert at the bar, and everything was fantastic (I had the sangria, while my boyfriend opted for the gin and tonic). Lovely and quick lunch!Service was great per usual and the appetizer was delicious.Main course was hearty and flavorful but the dessert was a letdown.It was up and up until the last course. Ended with a flat note rather than a high one!Took a while for the coffee to come- had to remind the staff of the coffee and waited a while for dessert silverware.And flan is over powered by other offerings, cake bites, cherries, etc etc… flan should’ve been the star of the dessert not just a guest appearance.
Food is delicious. Atmosphere is amazing, inside and outside. Erik, one of the managers, is so nice, welcoming, and taking a good care of customers with his smile. We wanted a cocktail and he magically got it for us :)There is only one little thing which is not a big issue, but I call it out, our server was good but he was late or forgot to answer to any of our requests like a sauce, straw, or even bringing a silverware, he might be tired. But generally all staff were great.

Best Spanish restaurant I've been to in DC. Each plate was so flavorful. The paella was extremely well done, I only wish it developed a crunchy socarrat at the bottom.The restaurant itself has a very grand feel, and the seating next to the window gives you beautiful views of the boardwalk and wharf.Really pricey restaurant, especially if you want to order a lot of tapas and try everything out, but it's well worth the price.
This review is specifically about the desserts. I have a huge sweet tooth and after having dinner at another restaurant in Waterfront, my friend suggested we go to Del Mar for dessert. I am so glad she suggested it!! We tried several items that used flavors you don’t always see- saffron and lychee to name a few. I was impressed by the unique offerings. We ended up meeting the pastry chef, Sofia. She is so nice and talented!
Lovely restaurant. Delicious foods. Beautifully decorated restaurant. Service was on point. However, i will mention when we were seated at a booth I was informed I was not allowed to seat on the cushion/booth side. I had to sit in the chair looking towards the kitchen. I thought that was interesting as others were sitting on the booth side. Didn't matter highly recommend this restaurant.
The ethnic food here is absolutely fantastic, and the wine menu is impressive, including non-alcoholic options as well. I tried the G.T non-alcoholic drink, and it tasted remarkably like a real gin and tonic. I highly recommend the WILD CALAMARI paella, and the JAMÓN CROQUETAS from the tapas menu are simply amazing, along with all the cured meats.

The staff at Del Mar are incredibly friendly and helpful. The grilled fish and seafood rice are absolutely delicious. My friends and I had such a wonderful time dining at Del Mar, and we will definitely return when we're in DC again in the future.
