When there is a proper local down the road and a proper pub in the other direction there is no reason to stop here. We stopped for a pie and the gravy was so thick I couldn't pour it and I could stand a spoon...up in it. It was fake tasting and not proper gravy. You could taste granules. I am not paying inflated prices for gravy I could make from a tin. I don't know if it was covid but there were no salt and pepper shakers to flavor the chips and the pie was tasteless. The servers are nice but not helpful and disappeared as soon as the plates hit the table. The burger that my friend got was overcooked and as dry as a frozen patty that was tossed on a grill. Noticed this pub in the queue at the level crossing at drove in. It was very quiet but was given menus and asked to sit down. We were asked if we'd prefer a breakfast or lunch menu even though at was midday. They were happy...to accommodate for late breakfast. Our drinks orders were taken while we looked at the menu. After bringing our drinks he took the food order. We did wait a little while but the food was hot and looked fresh. A selection of sauces was also brought to the table. The food was delicious, the service great. Staff went above and beyond to see to our comfort. Will definitely be going again. Worth coming off the for.
Characterless plastic pub, much nicer local pubs in Malton. For a town renowned for its food it was a very basic menu with nothing exciting and nothing that screamed local. Seemed like pre-made meals like you'd expect in a spoons but more expensive. Feel sorry...for the kitchen staff. Not the best choices behind the bar, seemed like a weird atmosphere inside too. Was visiting Malton with friends and left disappointed. Bar staff were friendly, but apparently they had only just re-opened.
Not a great experience Very average Sunday lunch, dry beef and nothing cooked with any seasoning, roast potatoes should not be cooked in a fryer, these are not roast potatoes!! for Eton mess made with squirty cream from a can!! This is not Eton...mess. Whip some cream and do it properly, squirty cream had lost any body it had before it reached the table, The service is a complete shambles, no one knows what they’re doing or has any knowledge about the menu they’re serving.

if island has been crawling. on the plus side the staff was so nice and could not have done any more, the toilets were so clean and roch great (woman comment, but that was the highlight). the Sunday dinner was sad all from the...freezer and meat terrible. loads of extra veg, but all school dinner style. we did not expect much, but honestly it was so bad, even the children did not eat their food. the chips were still quite uncooked.
We stopped off here for breakfast, breakfast was lovely, homemade, not greasy and great sausages. They accommodated for our child who wanted a selection of breakfast that wasn’t stated on the menu. Coffee was nice a fresh and the customer service was fantastic. We highly...recommend.
eating here is a embarrassment to yorkshires food capital Sunday lunch a complete cabinet, veg overcooked, deep roasted kartoffels, gray meat. the derwent makes wetherspoons attraktiw. needs a deep cleaning in general and the lines need regular cleaning.
excellent lunch with a friend. great choice, even if I am koeliac. my friend was thrilled with her choice. nothing was too much annoyed. beautiful atmosphere freshly decorated and updated. would be highly recommended.

Very well organised pub! Had a lovely steak and my husband had the fried chicken platter; good pub grub and reasonably priced! Staff are very friendly and efficient! Will call again!
