After three of us middle after guys trawling the centre from 21:30 on a Thursday night we resigned ourselves to get f c. A lot more trawling and at 22:00 we spotted this down a side road of West Street. Empty but with fish in the hot display. We ordered a variety of small fish, chips and curry sauce. The server just grabbed whatever fish was in the display and threw some chips into polystyrene trays. No refrying. For all we knew they were large fish at small prices. The chips were tough cut and soggy style, The fish batter was soggy and had an unusual taste of a blend everything that may have gone in there the past week. as Pescatarians we probably had meat flavoured fish but it was late and...
How on earth can this place stay in business? The staff have a very arrogant take it or leave It attitude and food (if I can call it that that want 's putting straight in the bin. If you wanted to set an example of how to make the worst fish and chips in the world, this place would be the bench mark. Cold half cooked chips in semi-rancid cooking oil, not forgetting to leave every potato eye in place and add a decent pinch of grit to round things off. And now the piece de resistance, oh that way past it 's best fish, that purports to be cod, with that gray and black mushy texture, so thin and oddly tasting. My husband drove up to Devonshire Chippy as I was craving scraps due to being 3 months pregnant, despite the last time we purchased anything from there it was overpriced, cold and definitely not edible. He was told he had to purchase a meal in order to get any, which he said was no problem! However, staff proceeded to decline his custom and refer to him as a ‘fat c**t’. Will never use Devonshire chippy ever again and I don’t recommend anyone else does either.
Server was stood on his mobile ignoring me, confirmed my order 5 times with him, got home and part of my order (2 x sausage, chips curry sauce 1× chips) was missing from both specials. Sausage missing from one special and Sausage curry sauce missing from second special!! Doubled checked my order when he handed me the bag also. Very disappointed with my order and will NOT be going back again. Staff could do with wearing clean clothes or using aprons too !!

Fish: tasted awful. It tasted really metallic??! Chips: soggy, anemic, yet barely cooked. Mushy peas: NEON GREEN?!!! And tasteless Price: £9.50 for a small fish and chips, with mushy peas and a can of Dr Pepper. The board in the shop states £4.50 for a small fish chips, £1.00 for a can, therefore I can only assume my glow in the dark peas are from another planet and cost £4.00!!
Our family ordered from here, however I ordered a mixed kebab and it arrived with no chicken at all. I wouldn't have minded if we'd made a massive order and I hadn't paid £8.50 for a mixed kebab, but 4 items..... cmon! Won't ever be ordering from here again.
Best piece of fried fish I’ve eaten for many years bar none. Delicious, although many pissed punters pass through this establishment, and cannot vouch for the quality of food, I was sober, and highly recommend
I order online as I'm disabled, always arrives on time, always still hot, good value for money, best fish n chips in Sheffield far as I'm concerned
