On contrary to the negative reviews, the food here is legitimately authentic. Not Americanized like most are familiar with. If you are expecting the food you get from other Hispanic restaurants, this is the wrong place for you and your expectations are misaligned to real food. My team and I went here strictly because of the negative reviews. We had to investigate the claims. Tapatio with chunky tomato claim was the best. My family meets in Baldwin for lunch or dinner often, The Phoenix was closed so we thought we would try this Mexican restaurant. Sadly, the food was terrible, all of it. I had Carne Asada, the steak was all fat and had no seasoning, I could barely cut it. My dog enjoyed it as I wrapped it up to take home. Others in my party of 5 had quesadillas and chimichangas, also so bad no one finished their food. Prior to getting our food the cook came out and asked if we were going to eat the lettuce if she served it, then explained that at $5 dollars a head she didn’t want to waste it. I will never go back to this place. If this place is great to locals then you need to experience more Mexican restaurants. Besides not getting what we wanted, like as simple as guacamole, soup and then being asked to not have lettuce, if we weren’t going to eat. The cook came and asked because it was so expensive for them to waste. That being said.. they still charged full price for all of our very tasteless food.
