I arrived at Don Jose Mexican just after lunch and was surprised to find the restaurant almost empty. After waiting about five minutes for our drinks, we then waited another ten without anyone taking our order. The hostess appeared distracted by her phone, and two servers walked by, also absorbed in their own phones. We finally had to approach the host stand ourselves to get someone to take our order. It was disappointing to see such a lack of responsibility from the staff. While I understand there may be staffing challenges, those on duty should remain attentive to their tasks.
The food at this restaurant is absolutely amazing and has been one of my favorites since I moved here. However, during my recent visits, I've noticed that every staff member in the front of house seems to be glued to their phones. Today, after we received our drinks, we waited 13 minutes before being seated. The host didn’t even put her phone down while showing us to our table, and both servers were leaning against the wall, also on their phones. It was only 1:30 in the afternoon, and we were just the third table to be seated.
Don Jose is our favorite place for Mexican food in Jonesboro. The service is consistently fast and attentive, with our meals often arriving within 10 minutes of ordering. We’ve sampled numerous Mexican restaurants in the area, but the food at Don Jose is consistently exceptional. We haven't encountered a dish there that we didn't enjoy.
I visit this restaurant every Sunday, and the service is outstanding! From the moment I step in, I'm welcomed with chips and salsa. My drink arrives promptly, and my food comes out not long after. The menu features a wide range of choices, and every dish I've tried has been amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant!

The food at Don Jose Mexican was excellent. I was pleasantly surprised by the wide variety of dishes and the reasonable prices. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Pictured is the Monster Chimichanga, which was so delicious I devoured it immediately.
The best Mexican restaurant in the area! The food is always served hot and quickly. I absolutely love their tea—it's incredibly good!
