In the battle for Kansas City donut supremacy, 2 places undoubtedly rise to the top. Donut King and Fluffy Fresh. Having now sampled each establishment’s best offerings I can confidently say… it’s a tossup!Donut King perfectly represents the “new” school of donut making. Crazy flavors, a million different options, bright storefront. The quality is there in spades. Donut King slaps you across the face with awesomeness. The variety of donuts offered is amazing. Should have no problem finding just the right one or several. They even have a drive thru if you don't want to get out of your car. Although the delicious aroma from inside the store is enough to put you a diabetic coma. They are well worth the price. They do carry other items than just donuts that are just as yummy. This place is definitely worth checking out and has been an establishment located in North Kansas City for a lot of years.
I was several times to make sure I still feel the same. I don't know if it's the glaze or the actual donuts, but they don't even taste good, they're just super sugary. Frosting is gritty and has no taste other than the highest sugar. even the maple. It is the lack of taste and the sandy frost that it does not for me.
I think if they stay open until 10:00, their choice should remain the same all day. I'll still buy a dozen or more when I go, but I always miss the good stuff. Regardless of this, the quality of these donuts is fantastic! Always delicious and will always support a local business.
