Dorchester Abbey Tea Room

We have been visiting the tea rooms since 2001 when we moved into the area and always loved going there. However, things have really gone downhill and we will not be returning. I was there today and ordered a piece of lemon drizzle cake and all was well until it turned up at the counter. I could hardly believe my eyes, the portion provided was so thin you could see the plate though the holes in it. I complained about this and got no reaction which annoyed me. The lady behind the counter disappeared and was replaced by another so I raised the same complaint. Their reaction was to sell me another equally thin place thus doubling the price. We stumbled upon this restaurant after noticing a sign in front of Dorchester Abbey. Although it was about to close at 5pm, we were able to grab a slice of lemon icing cake and hot chocolates. We were pleasantly surprised by the generous portions of cake, which were fresh and delicious. If you enjoy homemade cake, this place is definitely worth a visit.

Took my grandaughter to see Peter Barnes' Last Supper sculpture. I was really surprised to see how it engaged my grandaughter. Made from 50,000 computer leyboard keys, it engages on many levels, the touch, finding words, names and sentences.... super! Will return.

Chose to end a long run with friends here, and we were not disappointed. Warm welcome and excellent home made cake. We say in the shady outside garden and were very pleased for stopping here. Recommended. Réservez une table maintenant

We had not been to the Tea Room for over three years and were delighted to find it is homely as ever, with good tea and delicious cakes, all provided at bargain prices. This is a real gem.

Excellent concert 'Russian Masters ' performed by OSJ. The early part of the performance was slightly marred by the noise from a creche which had been set up at the back of the Abbey.

There was a fantastic selection of cake. Drinks great. Service great. Prices reasonable for a great place. Great setting. That’s great then huh?

The Abbey is beautiful in itself but with the extra interest of this amazing sculpture by Peter Barnes of the Last Supper at the moment. Réservez une table maintenant
