We stopped for breakfast on our way to Cape Tribulation and enjoyed a delicious Eggs Bennie and eggs and ham on toast. The setting was lovely, with a sheltered patio to dine on. The service was pleasant and reasonably prompt. What really made our visit special was the owner's invitation to feed the wallabies, see Doris the crocodile, and meet the two dingos he fosters. These amazing animals are clearly highly intelligent and sentient creatures, and watching them jump (like a deer, but from a standing start) was truly incredible. The owner was very passionate about the animals and shared interesting information with our group. I was disappointed to see some group members leave without making...

There really aren't that many places to eat around Cape Trib and we took a punt on this one because we liked the menu. We were glad we did. Not only was the food tasty (I had the mushroom risotto and we enjoyed the coral trout) the snakes and birds really caught our attention. The animals here are given to the cafe and the owner likes to let them roam free. The birds do have cages but the doors are open and they certainly do fly around. They only get caged at night and out inside to avoid being hot by snakes (and also if a bird goes AWOL for a few days as punishment). Several snakes were out (all of them harmless pythons) including one that had climbed a tree so high that the owner couldn't...

We initially bypassed the quaint rural wooden shackfront of Lync Haven due to the misleading signage, which only indicated the accommodation park and not the highly regarded Doris bar. We even ventured up to CJ's on the beach, but were unimpressed and decided to turn back. We were fortunate to do so, as we were pleasantly surprised by the rural charm, warm welcome, and delicious food at Lync Haven. The Fish Special of the day, Coral Trout, was a standout, and the other meals were equally delicious. The owner showed a strong commitment to animal conservation, and he was both informative and hospitable. We were entertained by the semi-resident pet python napping in the foliage under the parrot...

It's really quite a spectacular experience to chow down on a fabulously cooked fish burger whilst watching the free roaming pythons, lorikeet, cockatoo and naughty Galah (it chews holes in the restaurant wall cladding!). There is also a wallaby enclosure and blue tongued skinks enclosure - I thought it was a great place to have lunch, especially for a family, as the wildlife experience keeps the kids entertained whilst waiting for lunch. There is a great selection of local Daintree teas to choose from (I loved the chilli chai) and my kids loved the milkshakes. Réservez une table maintenant

Fortunately, we were seated at a table right next to where the parrots were perched. They were well-behaved and didn't attempt to steal our food. I ordered the fish of the day, which was delicious, and my husband had a burger that looked juicy and appetizing. The restaurant was very welcoming.

We stayed a night here and ate in the restaurant for dinner. We both had lovely fresh coral trout for dinner, which was very nice. They are fully licensed and offer lovely outdoor seating. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and have an extensive menu.

Our meal at Doris' was shared with the house trained cockatoo and parrot and a rather large and obviously well fed python. The food was basic but pretty good and if you are in the area don't hesitate to eat here.

The food here was really good as was the beer. There are lots of snakes both indoors and out. They don't cause problems for the diners though. Also on the site are some tame wallabies. Highly recommended. Réservez une table maintenant
