Food was nice but terrible terrible service !!! My friend and I came here to have authentic Turkish food. We ordered our entrees and our mains. We waited and waited for our entree to come. After 55 minutes we thought something is definitely wrong as it should NOT take an hour for an entree to arrive. We asked the waiter to please check and so she did. We waited again and then got up to speak to the manager at the cashier (tall blonde guy). He told us that they forgot our order and are making it now. And then the entree and main came together. We told them there is no way we can eat the entree which was huge together with our main. So he said dont pay for it and you won't get it for free eith...
My second time here because the food is freakin awesome. This time we came on a saturday night when it was busy. Mistake! Despite the fact that there were alot of empty tables in the place and we went to sit down, we were rather brusquely asked what we were doing, did we have a reservation? We didnt and didnt see any reserved signs on any of the (many) empty tables. We were then ushered out to the back of the restaurant to a table. I understand if restaurants are busy and tables are booked however the way were spoken to and handled was rather rude. Luckily the food that came was its awesome usual quality and we ate and left. We had dinner at Downtown Istanbul last night to celebrate my husband's birthday. Thoroughly enjoyed the food - housemade dips and warm turkish bread, salt and pepper calamari, chips, pide, beef and lamb shish, all delicious! Service by Charlotte was spot on, very friendly and attentive and knew the menu and drinks list well. We asked for a table out the back, nice and quiet. We'll definitely be back!
Good food, large portions and a great atmosphere. The restaurant is on a busy street corner but roads are not intrusive and it makes for fun evening. Really good portions and the food is very good. Really excellent service from Josh who knew his product and engaged with us to make it all good fun and really makes the whole experience. Thanks for a great evening. Enjoyed the Sam Adams beer too.

Dropped in to see what Hawthorne Road had as an alternative to Bulimba. Didn't have a booking on a Saturday night in Winter and fortunately a table became available in an obviously popular establishment. It was a cold night and the food hit the spot. Warm, spicy meats and pides. Good wine list and wonderful deserts and coffees. Great first impression and will be back.
My family and I drove 40mins to dine in your restaurant to be told use decided to close early (8.47pm),after giving us the menu to look at. Even though use state use are open till 10pm. Very upset to see use would turn a family away with a 5 yr old wanting to dine in for dinner, very rude and disappointing.
A friend and I had a fabulous lunch here. It was an early lunch on a weekday not long after opening so we pretty much had the place to ourselves, but the waitress was helpful and attentive, and the food was delicious. We shared a pizza and a salad and it was more than enough food for two.
We have eaten there a few times and not only is th food amazing, the staff are really friendly. Even when it is really busy you can still have a good conversation and hear everyone. Can't speak highly enough of this place - a must try!

We have been at the Downtown Istanbul on a Sunday evening. The food was fantastic, starters as well as mains. Well prepared and very tasty. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I can only recommend this restaurant.
We had a great dinner here. We didn't have a reservation but they seated us. The food was incredible. Servings were large and the food was fresh and delicious
