I went with my 6 year old daughter this evening to the restaurant. The lady who served us was really lovely. She seemed to go that extra mile with my daughter. Showed my daughter all the Christmas decorations and let her play with them. The starter of the chicken goujons was really nice, enough for me and my daughter to share. Kids meal was very good value, she had a burger chips and ice cream. I had the fish, chips and gravy. The fish was nice, the chips were really rubbish (overcooked and mostly the scraps at the bottom). Was really disappointed with the chips especially because in the past they have been really good. Decided to have a sit in fish and chips today with the family, obviously you pay more for eating in. The service was shocking , young girl clearly hadn't been trained in customer service with her huge fake nails and zero communication when waiting on the table. The place was empty, we were the only people in there yet surrounded by tables with dirty plates on that hadn't been cleared( 6 tables to be precise) the floor was dirty, we grabbed a highchair for our baby and it was filthy ,hairs and crumbs everywhere on it. Got our order had to go back up and ask for the sauces we had paid for and hadn't arrived ! I'm not exhadurating the place was filthy and felt really uncomfortable eating there....
Had passed Drake’s plenty of times and wanted to try them. Went in at 7.05 this evening with 2 people in front of me. I left at 7.40 ! The problem seems to be Just Eat and Deliveroo. They were so focussed on preparing their orders and virtually ignored the customers who were in the shop. By the time I left, there were 6 people in line with one person who just wandered straight up and ordered ignoring the queue. And she was served ! I had a 10 minute drive home, they were wrapped in paper and had no salt and vinegar on them, so I was hoping for crisp and fresh fish and chips. The photo says everything. I went to the takeaway section of the restaurant, placed my order, and then stood back near a table by the window. I noticed that the table wasn't properly fixed and I accidentally caught my skin between the tables as they were not secured properly. I didn't say anything as the two young employees didn't seem to care. The fish was good, but the chips were not great so I left them. It made me realize why I hadn't been to this restaurant in a long time.

Don't give these people your hard earned money. Very rude, can't even be bothered to look at you when serving. The fish portions have become smaller and smaller this year, it's very expensive for what you're given. They are only bothered about fullfilling the Just eat and Deliveroo orders and ignore customers in the shop. It used to be much better than this but has gone downhill over the last few months, we won't be going back.
The entrance and the step was absolutely filthy . Put me off straight away and on entering the cafe we just turned around and walked out . Floor was filthy , looked like dried on cola all over . The tables were so worn and awful. Strange smell , didnt even smell nice of fish and chips . Make no wonder it was empty at 4.30 on Good Friday . The other Drakes are lovely but this place is abysmal .
Normally an alright experience however, tonight we ordered at 5:50 and two people walked in after. One massive order and one regular sized order. They both got served and got their food way before us! We wanted two fish and chips yet we waited 30 minutes from time of ordering to actually getting our food. No apology from the staff and one didn’t even know we had ordered!!! VERY disappointed!!
Yesterday, we went to the restaurant for lunch. My colleague ordered the large fish and chips with mushy peas, while I opted for the smaller portion with chicken for a starter. Unfortunately, they forgot to bring the mushy peas initially, and we had to chase them down to get our food. Despite it being a Friday, the restaurant was very quiet with only one other couple dining there.

I had a pleasant experience dining at Drakes Restaurant on Wednesday evening. It was nice to see new staff working and the restaurant was clean. The food was great and the waitress, Karen, was friendly and always had a smile on her face, creating a cheerful atmosphere. I would definitely visit again and highly recommend a visit to anyone.
