My visit to Restaurant du Lac was a thoroughly positive experience that I can highly recommend to everyone. From the first moment we were warmly welcomed, and the ambience of the restaurant right on the shore of Lake Biel was breathtaking. The scenic view of the lake coupled with the soothing sound of the water created a perfect backdrop for our meal. As far as the dining experience goes, the highlight was definitely the pike. I have rarely enjoyed such exquisitely prepared fish. It was perfectly seasoned, golden on the outside and wonderfully juicy on the inside a true masterpiece of culinary art. For fish lovers this restaurant has to be a top destination in Biel. Their fish soup served with lovely garlic bread is very different than most broth or cream based fish soups but also incredibly rich and tasty. And the fish skewer comes with a lovely sauce plus generous amounts of spinach and rice. Their wine list is mostly based on local production but there is also a small international selection. Along the permanent dessert card staples, they also serve seasonal dishes and the spring means strawberries and coupe Romanoff, an absolutely perfect choice with lots and lots of fruit. Making a reservation is probably a good idea especially on busy weekend days.
The food perch fillets was bland. The service was unsatisfactory. During the meal no one came by to ask if everything was okay. After dinner it took half an hour !!! until the table was cleared. The attentiveness of the service staff left a lot to be desired. The roof of the winter garden was full of dirt and looked unsavory. Overall not a positive experience, we won't be going there again.
