My wife and myself are currently holidaying in Poole staying at the Harbour Heights Hotel in Canford Cliffs (Review to follow) and after making some local enquiries we had Sunday earlier today at the Hotel du Vin Bistro near the Quay. I’m very...pleased we did as this is a quality venue from the moment one arrives and the service could not have been better. We had pre booked a quiet table and that is exactly what we were given and our Sunday ‘Roast du Vin” were promptly taken. Stayed at the hotel for night for business, the hotel is well situated in the heart of Poole Quay which was great. The hotel is not star, it is scruffy and needs some TLC, my room was dark and desperately needed to be...painted as there was more scuff marks on the walls than paint. The room was exceedingly overpriced for what it was, that was the theme of the stay as the bistro was also overpriced for what it was, the food was okay, just not worth the prices.

Ate dinner here with friends who were staying in the hotel. The restaurant has the usual Hotel du Vin bistro decor and vibe but I found the lighting inadequate and it too dark for my liking. Service was delivered with a smile and the food...was OK but nothing special. The smoked salmon starter comes with an odd cold coleslaw and the lamb main was a little tough. They also have the smallest ice cream scoop in the world!

I took a visit around different hotels and for the hotel stay this is number one from around Poole but I can’t say the same about the restaurant. I found the restaurant at holes bay to serve a wider range of options for all ages...throughout the day, whereas this menu was quite bland.
