Du Vin Bistro St. Andrews

Stayed at this hotel and was able to dine in the restaurant several times over our stay daily for breakfast and once for dinner. Everything was fine. Staff mixed. Some of them are a little sniffed and not friendly. Some are super nice and welcoming. Depending on who you get, you can have a pleasant or not pleasant experience. A guy is a little rude, I forget who he is. But he works in the evening. The food is okay. Nothing beautiful and not worth the price for dinner. But the portions are very generous. Breakfast is okay, you should just have a breakfast buffet to save them the effort of cooking. Serivce slowly. It certainly takes a while to eat out, both for breakfast and dinner. I don't think they're used to big groups or if the restaurant's full. That's not good because you always want your restaurant to be full.

Surroundings and atmosphere are great and the service is friendly and efficient. However, the food is distinctly average (or below) so I could not honestly recommend the bistro as a place to go for a good meal. Disappointing as we have been to a Hotel du Vin before and the standard was much higher. The bistro was quite empty on a Friday night, the management need to up their game to take advantage of their great location.

Booked three weeks before arrival were told you that you did not book here, who have a table Wee can give you an hour considering that we paid 180 pounds for four pounds, it was an expensive hour, but the food was amazing.

The restaurant staff was very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious and well presented. Visits from St. Andrews should try the restaurant, even if you don't stay overnight at the hotel.
