Love this place. We have been eating (and drinking) here for a few years and the food is consistently great. Service is friendly and efficient. Owners are usually around, unlike many other restaurants. Weekly specials include several choices under each menu category; apps, salads, sandwiches, and main course. My favorites are the Grilled Veggie Wrap, Hot Pastami sandwich, Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos, and the Baby Spinach Salad w/Blackened Chicken added. The Wedge Salad was a favorite when I was able to eat dairy. Food is reasonably priced for what you get. We love the atmosphere and decor in the cellar, as well.
A spur of the moment stop. Always drove by and was wondering how good of a hotel and/or restaurant. The history goes back to 1925. They have a bar downstairs while a more formal restaurant upstairs. The menu is the same for either one. This establishment showed its age. Today, was at the lower bar. We had an Old Fashioned and a beer. We started with the Calamari which was floured and Old Bay seasoning. It was okay but, the spicy marinara made up for it. The port cheddar cheeseburger was overcooked. I had the prime rib sandwich which was very tasty. They do have specials and a private parking lot.
The food is delicious and expensive as you would expect. The servers are all wonderful, and they have a great cocktail and beer selection. My only complaint is (and others have told me the same), the lighting on the ground floor/Rathskeller is very hard because it is bright and right above the head. It would be great if they had a different kind of lamp or maybe a cover over the lights. You really need something to damp the bright/harshness.
Large mixed drinks and a beer with a range of alcohol-free options. The appetizers were delicious and the attracts even more. Just be aware It is a rat cellar and it is in the basement. When I was over 6'2 I was the very old big wooden ones out of the ceiling. It's my new favorite for dinner.
