I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant. Although the food was decent and the service excellent, I had a serious problem with my takeout order. About halfway through my Mongolian beef and fried shrimp combo, I bit down on something extremely hard. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a small rock. At first, I thought it might be an unground peppercorn, but it definitely wasn’t. After checking more carefully with my fork, I found a second rock. This is completely unacceptable. I only noticed this after getting home, which made the situation even more frustrating. How do not just one, but two rocks end up in the food? I visited East Ocean based on a recommendation from a Chinese friend, and it truly met my expectations! The restaurant was quite busy around 12:45 PM, so I came back around 2 PM instead. I ordered vegetarian lo mein and vegetarian chow mein, accompanied by jasmine tea. They also served a bowl of steamed rice, which was a nice addition. The portions were generous, and the restaurant was clean and well-maintained. I will definitely return whenever I’m craving Chinese food!
The duck was tasty, though slightly salty. The fried tofu was a letdown—too greasy and priced close to the main courses. The Kung Pao chicken had good flavor, but only about 20% was chicken, with the majority being vegetables. The service lacked warmth; the staff seemed uneasy when asked questions, even basic ones about the dishes. Overall, the experience was average, but the duck is worth trying at least once.
The restaurant boasts a beautiful building and provides outstanding service. The chefs even stepped out to serve the food themselves, which might suggest a shortage of staff, but it didn't seem to affect the wait time for the dishes. The food was truly exceptional. I highly recommend this place!

This restaurant is outstanding! It truly serves authentic Chinese food. I absolutely love the roast duck, beef hot pot, and noodles. I will definitely be coming back regularly!
The seafood chow fun was incredibly tasty. It’s almost 100% authentic Chinese cuisine, which I truly appreciate. I highly recommend giving it a try!
