Our recollection of a visit around 10 years ago was extremely favourable, but a dinner recently with my family was a disappointment. The grounds were unkempt in strong contrast to the magnificent surroundings previously and the ambience in the restaurant, although still pleasant needed revitalising. We took advantage of a promotional discount on the estrella Michelin menu (4 fixed courses with no choice-although my wife was allowed to substitute ox-tail for hake) and the cooking was competent but did not reflect the capability of a talented chef that Salvador Gallego has the reputation of being (and which we can confirm through personal experience from our visit all those years ago). I have been there after reading tripadvisor comments (with a tasting menu voucher). As I expected, this is a really nice restaurant good located, quiet atmosphere and classic decoration (it is like a house in a small village), also the services is very helpful. The menu was made up of ten meals, all of them are acceptable, and the only thing is that the menu just included a couple of wine glasses… of course we were able to order a bottle (no large wine menu but not expensive). Without voucher the restaurant is expensive.
Set in the mountainous region of La Sierra, about an hour by car from Madrid, is this picturesque, quaint hotel in the village of Moralzarzal. Romantic setting, peaceful and quiet. Lovely terrace and wonderful food from a very prestigious chef, Salvador Gallego Jimenez. Very elegant restaurant. Service is very attentive and professional. Ideal place for a special occasion with your loved one.
