Following my last review decided to give this restaurant another try. Service still somewhat erratic but food OK until we ordered berenejenas con miel. The berenjenas tasted salty and I suspected they had been cooked in the same oil as fish. This was proved correct when I bit in to a piece of fried seafood. i hate seafood. I pointed this out to the waiter and instead of apologizing was asked why I didn't like seafood. Unfortunately my wife at more but not all of the berenjenas. When the bill came I asked to speak to El Jefe. I was made to go inside and speak to him at the hatch between the kitchen and restaurant. Went there today for lunch. Waiters more interested in a table of Dutch/English girls and another of Spanish who appeared to be friends. I complained to the manager but service not much better. Wrong food served after we had finished eating, wrong drinks, one spoon for a shared postre, and no apologies. Cost over 84 Eu for 2 but no offer of chopitos despite other tables receiving them. I speak Spanish to a good standard so no language excuses. Have to exclude the one waitress from our criticism, as she did her best but with no support from the rest. We've been here several times now, sometimes just for snacks or drinks while cycling along the coastal bike route from Malaga, and most recently for lunch. Simple, unassuming, very Spanish, very popular especially at even late lunch time on an uncharacteristically hot November Sunday . Mostly Spanish customers, probably both local and visitors, typical Spanish menu, with simple food beautifully and quickly cooked. This most recent time Jenny had delicious huge! prawns, I had really tasty berenjenas con miel with such light batter and lots of rich sweet dark treacle/honey, and we shared a straightforward salad. Ridiculously cheap, great food just loved it. We'll keep coming back. :
Just go to this restaurant. The freshly cooked fish are superb, the location great. It is just what you hope to find on your travels. Yes the service is truly terrible, and I can’t imagine how they manage to work like they do (but the young waitress, as other reviewers have said, works faster and harder than all the others and the place would fold without her), but you come here to relax, not rush in and out, so just take your time, enjoy the view, and instead of complaining about slow service just instead chat to your family/friends who came with you and marvel at how wonderful life can be. Also, it is great value for what they serve.
We sat in the sun and had a couple of coffees to break up our coastal stroll. Clearly popular with the locals who were piling in for the fresh fish as we were leaving. Like a lot of places round here the fish is super fresh and simply cooked over charcoal in their little beach shack.
