El Gaucho Im Landhaus

I visited the restaurant while on our honeymoon tour of Austria last December. El Gaucho was the highlight of our dining experiences in Graz. We like eating at the bar but unfortunately, the restaurant offers only table service. And this is just not what you do in Austria....There are, however, a few tall tables near the entrance with our names on them. The staff was very accommodating and helped us settle into our fantastic tables ideal for people watching. We came early on this frigid evening in late December and the restaurant quickly filled up. I would give El Gaucho five stars if it wasn't for the very rude service. I'm an American expat from San Francisco Bay Area and I currently live in Graz, Austria. I have been to Argentina and my best friend is Argentinian so I have high expectations from an Argentinian restaurant that makes you pay an arm and a leg for their food. First of all, service was TERRIBLE. We had a reservation yet we still had to wait 15+ minutes for our table. The waiters and especially the waitress were very rude, uninterested and indifferent. Our experience at this restaurant was very mixed . We were guided to an outdoor table and the ambiance was pleasant, slightly upscale and somewhat lively on a Sunday evening. Service was very friendly ,however when we asked for a cocktail menu they announced that the bar was down due to maintenance and they had no liquor as a result, only wine. We then ordered soups , I was slightly disappointed that the baked oxtail soup didn 't contain actual oxtail pieces but dumplings .
