I recently visited El Jalapeno for the first time, and overall, I had a pretty good experience. The portions are generous and quite filling. I ordered the birria tacos, which I found to be tasty; the shredded beef had fantastic flavor, although they were a bit greasy. The rice was excellent—moist and flavorful—while the beans were a bit on the runny side. It's worth noting that this restaurant does not serve alcohol. The walls had some interesting artwork, but the decor felt somewhat sparse, making it look a little bare, though there was a foosball table available. All in all, the food is good and definitely worth a try, especially for carryout. The large portions are also reasonably priced.
I really don't like leaving bad reviews but after reading all these great reviews then having the food myself I have to be honest it's not good at all, the salsa taste like cumin the rice looks like minute rice it just doesn't taste authentic or have good flavor I had a chicken quesadilla dinner and there's just not flavor rice seems like it's already prepared not fresh and the beans were ok that was the only thing sorry just need to be honest I probably would not eat here again everyone with me also did not like the food
The phenomenon of shrinkflation is evident here, just like at many other places. The portions have shrunk while the prices have increased. The waitstaff are lacking and could benefit from some basic training. Overall, I would rate the food a 4, the service a 2, and the atmosphere a 4.
The coordinated with the other Mexican restaurants within blocks of me and they all raised their prices at the same time. I will not go to any of them. Price per person: $10–20 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
