First of all Peruvian food cost more and more these days. That would be dandy if the food was on par with what they charge. Sadly, in this place, it?s not so. We used to go by driving one hour each way. The pandemic put a stop to eating at a table for 2 years plus. Finally today we arrived around 7:30 PM. Service was prompt and pleasant in every way. Food became the issue. Ceviche Mixto Criollo, $17 each. Ordered 2 and overall was one of the two best dishes. Ceviche, of course, the primary reason to go. 4 Stars. Anticuchos, marinated beef heart, $14. This one with the price hiked, a very sad choice. Why? Used to be 3 wooden skewers with at least 3 pieces of meat in each. Plus typical sauce,...

It was 28. Juli, Peruvian? Independence Day, and my family wanted to take me to El Rocoto Peruvian Restaurant to experience the unique South American flavors. Fair warning. You will not find any kind of tortillas or fried beans on these dishes, nor tomato-based sauces, etc. More Central Americans. As my family grew up in Lima, I tried a seafood dish that I shared with my family called Ceviche. Basically healed fish, sweet potatoes and Leche de Tigre. (Look it up). Then I ordered a seafood plate called Pescado (fish) Macho. It was a generous piece of fried fish with an assortment of seafood below. Shells, shrimps, octopus, Calamari and scallops mixed with a creamy sauce. It included side dish...
My family and I have been going to El Rocoto since their opening more than 20 years ago and we have nothing to say but that this place is amazing. Truly authentic at its best! Sure there are times where they’ve hit a bump on the road but this last time that we were there (Sunday 08/14), we had an excellent experience. We started off with Papa Rellena and Anticuchos de Corazón. The Papa Rellena was so soft and flavorful. The salsa criolla that accompanied had all the right ingredients and really added to the dish. The Anticuchos were well cooked and the sauce was made just right. For our main plates we had Saltado de Mariscos and Lomo Saltado. Both excellent plates that had tender pieces of m...
On July 28th, which was Peruvian Independence Day, my family took me to El Rocoto Peruvian restaurant to experience the unique flavors of South America. Just a heads up, this is not your typical Mexican cuisine with tortillas and refried beans, or tomato-based sauces. These dishes are more reminiscent of Central American cuisine. Since my family is from Lima, we tried a dish called Ceviche, which is cured fish served with sweet potato and Leche de Tigre. For my main course, I ordered Pescado Macho, a generous piece of fried fish served with a seafood stew including mussels, shrimp, octopus, calamari, and scallops in a creamy sauce. The meal also came with sides like rice, fries, and a salad. Réservez une table maintenant
Food was good, portions were big! Most of the plates you can share. My only gripe is that I made a reservation with Google assist and it couldn't get a hold of anyone... so I called and easily got a reservation at 8pm on a Thursday only to find out they close at 8:30pm. I felt bad showing up 30mins before they closed, so we ate quick and tried to leave quick. If I knew I would have made the reservation at 7pm instead. I ordered the arroz con pollo, delicious!
Food ia really good. The Tacu-Tacu Especial very flavorful and tender. Lomo Saltado did not disappoint. The chicharron calamari is very crispy with yummy dipping sauce. Will definitely come back.
El Rocoto Restaurant is my favorite Peruvian food. I couldn?t wait to get back to get some. Love everything we ordered. Thank you for the wonderful memories!!!?Till next time.
