My recent visit to El Velero in Torremolinos was far from pleasant, and I feel compelled to share my unfortunate experience with others. From the moment we sat down in the evening and ordered only drinks, the waiter treated us with disdain. Instead of providing us with a warm welcome or even a simple greeting, he made it clear that he couldn't be bothered to serve us at our table. To our surprise, the waiter abruptly informed us that we couldn't be served inside the restaurant and were forced to move to a segregated area on the sand. The flimsy chairs they provided sank into the sand, making it impossible for me to comfortably sit due to my weight. I felt humiliated and judged, as if I didn't belong in their establishment. When I politely expressed my discomfort and disappointment, the situation only worsened. We were promptly asked to leave the premises, leaving us feeling embarrassed and unwanted. The lack of empathy and respect shown by the staff was appalling and completely uncalled for. It's truly disheartening to have such a negative experience at a supposedly reputable restaurant. I would strongly advise others to steer clear of El Velero in Torremolinos. The unprofessional behavior, discriminatory treatment, and overall lack of hospitality make this place far from deserving of anyone's patronage. As someone who enjoys trying new dining experiences and supporting local businesses, I can't emphasize enough how important it is for establishments to treat their customers with dignity and respect. Unfortunately, El Velero failed miserably in this regard, and I hope my review serves as a cautionary tale for others. I will not be returning to El Velero, and I urge others to seek alternative dining options in the area that value and appreciate their customers. Let's support restaurants that understand the importance of creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.
