My recent visit to El Velero in Torremolinos was far from pleasant, and I feel compelled to share my unfortunate experience with others. From the moment we sat down in the evening and ordered only drinks, the waiter treated us with disdain. Instead of providing us with a warm welcome or even a simple greeting, he made it clear that he couldn't be bothered to serve us at our table. To our surprise, the waiter abruptly informed us that we couldn't be served inside the restaurant and were forced to move to a segregated area on the sand. The flimsy chairs they provided sank into the sand, making it impossible for me to comfortably sit due to my weight. I felt humiliated and judged, as if I didn't belong in their establishment. When I politely expressed my discomfort and disappointment, the situation only worsened. We were promptly asked to leave the premises, leaving us feeling embarrassed and unwanted. The lack of empathy and respect shown by the staff was appalling and completely uncalled for. It's truly disheartening to have such a negative experience at a supposedly reputable restaurant. I would strongly advise others to steer clear of El Velero in Torremolinos. The unprofessional behavior, discriminatory treatment, and overall lack of hospitality make this place far from deserving of anyone's patronage. As someone who enjoys trying new dining experiences and supporting local businesses, I can't emphasize enough how important it is for establishments to treat their customers with dignity and respect. Unfortunately, El Velero failed miserably in this regard, and I hope my review serves as a cautionary tale for others. I will not be returning to El Velero, and I urge others to seek alternative dining options in the area that value and appreciate their customers. Let's support restaurants that understand the importance of creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.

Avoid this place despite is lovely location it 's just a tourist trap where maximising turnover is the #1 driving factor and where they don 't care about customers nor food quality as most will never return indeed, I can see from other recent comments that we 've not been alone in having had a very poor experience. Fast, reheated pre prepared food, no effort to engage customers in a friendly way either before, during or after the meal. Ordered a special salad and red pepper for starters which were both well, awful followed by the driest meat paella for 2 you can imagine that had obviously been rapidly and extremely reheated could have plastered a wall with it! Suffice to say we couldn 't get out of there fast enough as it was obvious that there would be no redress to be had. Shabby menus, no oil on the table just to different manky old vinegars and beer served in ancient pint jugs as seen in Phoenix Nights! And all horrendously expensive at 70 euro (inc 4 euro for 2 small bread rolls) you have been warned as were the couple browsing the menu as we left thankfully they carried on walking !

We have passed by this restaurant for many years on walks from La Carihuela to Torremolinos so today we stopped off for a cocktail. We are both big cocktail drinkers so I asked for a Porn Star and my husband for an Old Fashioned. We were told they weren’t available so I ordered a Pina Colada and my husband a Tornado. Both came out of ready mixed bottles with no taste of alcohol. We were sitting at the bar and could see what the waiter was doing. When we asked the waiter he just shrugged his shoulders. A total rip-off at €11 each. I’m sorry we just didn’t leave them on the counter and walk. Will never be back and won’t be recommending to anyone who likes cocktails

I've spent days in turmoils of which I've eaten in this restaurant exquisite food, abundant rations and incredible treatment. They made me feel like the family. I strongly recommend it. the seafood paella of the clams are cojonudas, the cheff's salad is good, the truth that I would not tire of repeating eating in this place never. excellent quality price.
