Nice atmosphere and attentive staff. Greek salads are prepared ahead of time and served cold, in individual dishes. Too much cucumber though, and the dressing that some patrons love didn't appeal to us. We both had moussaka and found the meat/eggplant mixture very nice. The topping, however, wasn't a traditional bechamel, instead having flour mixed in to firm it up. We prefer a creamier and tastier traditional bechamel. The rice, though a little plain, was perfectly cooked and only needed a little juice squeezed from the lemon wedge that was provided to make it delicious. Very good tzatziki, though I am sure the very generous amount of garlic in it would not be to some people's liking. House...
A family run Greek and Canadian food restaurant. The restaurant went through a dip due to a failed sale. The family is back at the helm and I find that they are as good as ever! There are daily lunch and dinner specials - that are true specials [unlike "feature" dishes at chain restos] I order from their Greek menu and the portions are generous as well as tasty. I love their Greek salad with their own recipe dressing, they are generous with the feta cheese and I order no onions. For a treat I have their roast lamb, always tender. Souvlaki and Kalamari and very good too. Weekend evenings are very busy so make a reservation or go a bit later than the 6pm dinner hour.
When we lived in Mission two decades ago, we would eat at Eleni's very regularly because the food was always good and the service always friendly. We then lived elsewhere for fifteen years before retiring to Mission and were pleased to see that Eleni's is still very much as we remembered it. The previous owners' daughter now runs the place. There is parking and rear access to the restaurant on the back, directly off Railway Street with the main entrance on First Street if parking is available.
Went there for dinner this evening for the first time. Not a lot of flavor. The lasagna was bland and the meat sauce tasted like the sauce from a can of pork-n-beans. The garlic bread butter was VERY yellow. No garlic flavor, I think it was done with the fake liquid butter or margarine. I would not recommend it. There are much better Greek food restaurants only 15-30 min away.
Amazing food sometimes. Occasionally you can get the best food in town. But then the next time it could be the worst. For example the lasagna the last few times has had almost now sauce. But usually the the sauce is ample. A few orders lately have forgotten salads or garlic toast.
