Empanadas El Machetico

I spent a lot of time giving TripAdvisor an edit, as to the correct location of this great little empanada stand in the popular Zona Rosa area of Medellin. I’ve done this with so many establishments TripAdvisor usually ignores the corrected edits. So, you cannot depend on TripAdvisor’s maps to lead you to the right location in so many places of the world. TripAdvisor can’t say that they publish information given by their users because I’ve given them the correct information on so many establishments and it goes unnoticed. From my very first visit to Medellin in 2010 and fast forward 10 years later and these tasty empanadas still hold top honors and a special place in my heart as I stop by and enjoy them just about every time when I am in the area. And when my Colombian friends say that they are the best in the whole of Medellin it means something. Look at this photo that I took last night February 3, 2020 at about 7:30 PM it is PACKED with people ordering empanadas. Service and quality and value it does not get any better! Try it for yourself and enjoy!

Empanadas and that is it! But guess what? That is all that you will need. Not because its all I think they offer but its because this lady has mastered her craft. You can tell with every bite. Meat filled with other herbs spices and whats like a cilantro salsa. You get 1 lime with it and like a sauce. I didnt even use the sauce. I enjoyed it as it was. Definitely stop here while you want a quick bite while walking the city. Take out only. Grab n go. Enjoy. Cheers

This is a small shop. It has no seating. They have no menu. They don’t know English. As far as I understood they only sell beef empanadas. I got 2 empanadas and paid 4800 COP. They also don’t have coffee if you go in the morning. They sell juices and soda. Empanadas are different from traditional Argentinian empanadas. They are crisp, similar to Brazillian pastels. It was fresh and delicious. I will definitely go again. I am mot sure if they accept credit card. Réservez une table maintenant

DELICIOUS empanadas. We truly fell in love. The lady working there was so sweet and their empanadas are perfect with a Pepsi. There’s only 1 kind of empanada, but it’s truly perfect. You get them from the stall and then stand outside and eat! We sought this place out because of their reviews and they did not disappoint! We came 3 times over 2 days. It’s right by parque El Poblado just north of Avenida Poblado! *Tip: you can also take them “to go”

Place is always busy and for good reason. Whenever I am in Medellin I have one almost everyday for a quick snack. Totally not healthy but one will fill you up for a few hours. It comes with a terrific spicy sauce; all for less than a dollar.

My favorite papas rellenos ever! And I love papas rellenos. Only place where I have a found a panzeroti too. Add that up, and I will gladly write some kind words for a restaurant you should patronize. I recommend without any hesitation.

My friends and I visited on a recent Saturday night. Due to prior reviews, my initial order was two beef and two chicken. Unfortunately, the empanadas were flavorless and overcooked. However, the accompanied hot sauce was good. Réservez une table maintenant

The best empanadas in town! I can eat hundreds of them. The guy is very friendly and the empanadas are always ready and hot. The price is cheap but the taste is amazing. A place to visit always again!
