I will not tell anyone that if you are visiting the area not to go see it. It is worth visiting and learning a little about the history of the place. The evening sun gives it a striking light and color (stone and metal mix very well at that time). It happens that if you go on a weekend, long weekend or summer vacation, be prepared to share your time and space with the rest who have had the same magnificent idea and saturate the visiting areas. Also keep in mind that, just like Buddhist churches or temples, after a few wineries it can get a bit heavy, so I recommend planning before you go.
The winery is beautiful and the guide Yolanda is great. The €50 tasting is fine but they should offer less wine to taste and then if you want more you can repeat. Many people left their glasses almost whole !!!?! a sacrilege to throw away that wine, it is not a question of money but of respect for work and for the wine itself. The winery should know this... you have to stop false snobbery and be efficient, the planet is not for nonsense and people who don't know appreciate the effort of making wine. Finally, the cafeteria is wonderful and the tortilla skewer is amazing.
We called to try to book a tasting with a 1-year-old girl, the surprise is that they put you in a special group in which you can only enjoy low-end wines, as said by the salesperson who attended us. I don 't know who guides you on the subject of marketing, but if you have to go to a low-end tasting due to the fact that you are going with children, at least don 't sell it like that because it gives the impression that the experience will be a disappointment. Answer to all this: Company policy.
You can't see anything except a shop and a bar without any charm, I think it's good that they maintain the privacy of the hotel but that after going there you can't go to the garden to see it from the outside if you don't make an organized visit of more than an hour, I did not have more than half an hour for the stop. Magnificent winery designed by Frank Gehry. We didn't have time to taste the wines so we'll have to come back. The store is very careful and allows you to get an idea of what they propose. We think it's great to mix architecture and wine, and the Marques de Riscal winery is a mandatory stop in La Rioja, in the same way as Ysios.
Too bad you can't see anything of the building without a tour. Just visit the beautiful shop. But, drive to the observation platform for phenomenal views and a spot for a picnic! It is called: Mirador Elciego Marques de Riscal From there you can drive a beautiful route (small part unpaved) towards Logroño.
Marques de Riscal counts with a great customer service and it was proven today. They helped fix my mistake in booking the wrong date for tour. The tour itself was great, largely due to the the very knowledgeable Cristina. Great wine, great customer service! Réservez une table maintenant
