We read the amazing reviews and noted that there were one or two negative comments. To be quite honest l felt the positives vastly outweighed the negative s. So we arrived about 12.30, thinking we would have a drink amd enjoy lunch there. A waitress told us where to sit and took our order for the drinks. We asked about food and were informed the lunch started at 13.00. We were happy to wait so asked if she could bring us a menu, which she agreed to. She omitted to do this. At this stage there was only one other table occupied, it was extremely quiet. It was now 13.00 amd the same surly waitress came to our table and put a reserved sign on our table, not saying a word. We were confused so asked another waitress about it, she advised that the table we were sat at was reserved from 14.00. There was at least another three identical tables to ours, all unoccupied yet the waitress chose ours. Clearly we were unwelcome, was it because we were English, elderly or tourist. It was a very uncomfortable experience never to be repeated again.

Less than ten minutes stroll from the hustle and bustle of Plaza Cort, past the Churches of Eulalia and Sant Francis, a quiet atmospheric haven Es Pes de Sa Palla offers a very special restaurant that truly rewards discovery. Mallorcan food, Mallorcan customers, Mallorcan staff and our menu was even in Mallorquin, challenging but we managed fine. Our two meals were beautifully cooked and delicious. Tapas combos or simple mains. The service is helpful and friendly and our particular waitress Maria was great. No wine list as such and limited selection but our Mallorcan white was so good we had a second bottle instead of pudding. Most locals sit indoors which has a real buzz but we sat outside in the delightful square in the gentle February sunshine and watched the lawyers from the nearby Court having frantic phone calls before or after their cases. We have a house on the island and will definitely come back.

We were strolling around the old section near the Covent of Santa Clara and just stumbled across this place. This is not an area with very many places to eat and it stands alone in more ways than one. It is very well maintained with very helpful staff and lots of room to eat inside and out on a large patio. Now for the food. One of the best places for tapas that we visited over the course of 10 days in Barcelona and Palma. They served all the basics and everything was outstanding. We came back here again the next day.

Flavors, service, charming etc. we had lunch with a friends for a start and late breakfast the day after and we’re lucky to have the same people serving us on both occasions. Telling us about the restaurants the foundation have and how the make almost everything from the ground. The area of the cafe is excellent, away from the strip with a calm and cool atmosphere. Highly recommend a visit, might be a good thing to book a table!
