We took a last minute trip north from Boston to spend a long weekend in Canada, starting in Montreal and continuing to Ottawa. We decided to break away from the usual places we haunt and try something new for us. Europea was that experience for us. Normally booked well in advance, the concierge at our nearby hotel was able to get use the chef's table looking directly into the kitchen. It was as fascinating to watch our food being prepared as it was was delicious to eat. Our server Sacha was helpful in helping us choose wine from the great list. This restaurant is a complete scam. Do not go there. We went on New Year's Eve in 2009 hoping to have a nice evening celebrating with gourmet food. We opted for the ten-course "menu degustation" dinner with champagne. The night started off well with impressive appetizers. However, the quality quickly went downhill as the service became slow and the food was disappointing. The main course was terrible, with poorly cooked tuna and dried-up hummus. The cheese plate was overly salty and the "frozen soufflé" was just ice cream. The staff were unfriendly and the atmosphere was unwelcoming. Un excellent repas en final de nos vacances au Québec : inventivité, respect des produits, service attentionné, efficace avec une petite touche d'humour ! Belle salle et belle table. De nombreux amuse -bouche et notamment " l'arbre à barbe à papa " : nous n'avons pas goûté les desserts mais le "final " était très bien. Merci à nos amis canadiens de nous avoir fait découvrir cette très belle adresse.

We visited L'Europea again on a recent visit to Montreal and had another excellent meal. The food was very good and the service was very attentive, with a little bit of theatre but not too much. Overall a very enjoyable meal, with food influenced by european style with a North American/Quebecois twist, in a very pleasant restaurant setting.
we had an amazing experience in europea. the whole evening was quite the spectacle that created the presentation about all the dishes. we went to my friend's birthday and had a nice time. at the end of the evening we even had hands shaken with the cook! would highly recommend the experience!
In general, the restaurant experience was exceptional. Upon arriving, we were warmly welcomed and our coats were promptly attended to. The food and service were both outstanding. While a bit pricey, it was definitely worth the cost. A must-try at least once in your lifetime.
Had an amazing time celebrating a special birthday at this restaurant. I highly recommend requesting a table in the main dining room so you can see the open kitchen and watch the chef and his team prepare your meal.
