I was there just an hour ago, and I must say, the food is abundant and prepared fresh to order. I enjoyed some incredibly delicious deep-fried pork chops along with fantastic home-style vegetables. The service was excellent; the waitresses were consistently smiling and checked on me multiple times. There’s a lovely community vibe with people coming and going, greeting both locals and travelers. I’ve visited this place about ten times throughout the years while traveling, and it has always been great. I noticed an earlier comment claiming the establishment was not welcoming to people of color, but I have never felt, sensed, or witnessed anything like that.

We discovered this gem while driving home from Florida. It’s a family-owned, local restaurant in the small town of Baldwin, conveniently located near I-10 and 301 North. The service was friendly, and they offer fantastic brewed sweet and unsweetened iced tea. The menu features a variety of options, including salads, burgers, sandwiches, and delicious Southern dishes and sides. There's truly something for everyone!
I dined in for dinner and found the experience quite enjoyable. The price per person ranged from $10 to $20, making it an affordable option. I highly recommend trying the catfish, fried okra, and macaroni salad. Additionally, the country fried steak and cheeseburger were both delicious choices. Not the same as it used to be ! First time here in around 5 years , hamburger steak was good , cook was perfect , fried okra was OK, nothing to get excited about, mashed potatoes were instant , I hate instant mashed potatoes, especially from a home cooked restaurant! The iced tea was not sweet at all, and the food lacked flavor. While it was somewhat enjoyable, I expected it to be better based on what people had said about the restaurant.
