Met here with two friends as one had suggested it and its local to area my parents live as well. The pictures of the front don't do it justice now it looks like alot of money has been spent doing up the place inside and out. Looks very smart. No alcohol is sold on the premises but that wasn't a problem as the shop next door sold chilled wine and beer you could take in. All 3 of us had something different lamb Tawa, chicken and mushroom buna. Can't remember the other dish but it was lamb. All 3 of us said how tasty and delicious the food was with the right amount of zing. Meat was tender importantly too. All cooked fresh and looked good. The best Indian food we had all had in a very long time...
This has been our regular restaurant for many years and have recommended to many friends who are also now regulars.. On our last visit they half filled the curry containers rather than fill them to the top. There was less meat and paneer in the containers as well. They usually give 3 popodams and mint sauce, when I opened the bag there was half a popodam in there. The mint sauce was watered down. I have stopped going here now, and am trying other restaurants in Rugby. It's a shame as I liked the food from exotica and travelled 14 miles round trip and have been going there for over a decade. I won't be going after my last experience as it was very disappointing.
We decided to order via Just Eat last night, on recommendations from friends. It arrived on time and with 2 free poppadums (I forgot to order some), which was a nice touch even though they were crushed into 100 pieces. However the meals both Luke warm and had to be microwaved. My chicken Rogan Josh was more like chicken and tomato….not a hint, not even the minutest hint of spice, bland boring and tasteless. My wife’s Tikka Marsala was swimming in sauce and, whist it had a bit of flavour, was also very mediocre. HUGELY disappointed.
I don't understand the good reviews after ordering food from here. I ordered for the first time and not impressed. We ordered a selection of curries/naan/paratha/rice/chips....the butter chicken was just far too sweet certainly didn't taste like any butter chicken I had tasted before. Also the coconut rice too sweet. The chips were at best a small handful(and cold) Received something in the order that I hadn't ordered(even that didn't taste nice. Definitely would not recommend. I had a shocking experience with this takeaway restaurant. I'm not sure if there is new chef ownership. I had never had a bad meal from them before, but this time, the starters were served cold. The butter chicken was congealed and separated in the tray, making it inedible. The pilau rice looked dry and seemed like it had been sitting for a few days. It was a very disappointing meal and I will not be ordering from them again.
I ordered a starter and a side at this restaurant and waited over 2 hours for my food to arrive. When it finally came, it was lamb that had been served. This was worrisome. The sides were cold and the poppadoms were stale. I contacted the restaurant to inform them of the issue with the raw food, and they offered to cook a fresh order for me. However, when the new order arrived, it was no better than the first.
Another spur of the moment delivery from The Exotica. Very nice Mr Fawlty. Delivery on time. More pickles than we’d asked for, and extra popudoms. Some clients have suggested that the portions are smaller. We had two main courses and one rice and ended up throwing some into the food waste bin. It was **** lovely. Pity their not open Christmas Day. That would be us sorted.
Superb, this place has classics and a few of its own I have not eaten before. Service is brilliant, . This is place to enjoy. Its also stunning value for the quality of food. If you are visiting the area or even at crick marina this is the place to eat oh apart from the boat show as I don't want you going and filling the place up as we will be back.
