We've been coming to the Hopfensee area for 5 years. Every time we were in Rainis' original cottage at the Faulensee. Opening hours are restrictive. That is why you should plan well for hikes due to lack of alternatives. This is why we checked the homepage. And it should be open on Saturday... When we arrived in the deep forest after an hour, several people were on site... but the cottage was closed. According to a sign about private event . Very very annoying. Zumal kulinarisch (and also sanitary ... is not an alternative nearby. We will consider this very well in the future if we come again. I was the first time in the Faulenseehütte in winter with a group of friends. The weather outside was underground, do you really want to go and then walk? It was worth it! We expected a cozy, Christmas-decorated guest room, and the boss personally ensured that we were well equipped with treats and drinks. Actually, only sunshine and 20 degrees have been missing, I would have liked to see the vast outdoor area and the lake closer. Further visit is on my wish list for summer (or winter), I want to go back. I just wondered some of the previous reviewers were really in the same company? With us everything was best.
What has been done so far was always good and the host has helped the hut to a very high level. But the last 2 years are characterized by restrictive and arbitrary opening times. You often go for good luck there and then stand in front of closed hut, or closed society. The cottage is a destination for excursions and the hiker relies on the specified opening hours. I also think it is a responsibility of the host if he has the privilege of leading such a place to consider. Otherwise it would be good to change the guard. No one forces the host to continue to collapse.
On a very warm summer day you quickly ran from Rieden to the Faulensee. The lake is small and cozy above Rieden. Here you can enjoy a cooling, be it in the lake, both at the cottage. We actually wanted some food, but it was very full and the huts management consisted of 2 people. What about warm summer days are not enough people. It was rugged. The staff did not come after the large request for food and drinks. Because it was too big. Unfortunately, we can only make an assessment of the situation and drinks. They were tops. We were with 8 people for goose-fried food (with red cabbage, marons, rose cabbage, potato dumplings and semmelknödel). The two services were very nice and quick. The food left nothing to be desired. It was very tasty and plentiful. The price is absolutely fine. We will be happy to return there! The restaurant is idyllic on the edge of the Alps, directly on the small Faulensee. Very recommended!!!
