The Five Bells Inn

My mother enquired about a table for 8 people for her 60th birthday and was told by the staff member on the phone that it's a maximum of 6 persons, can't have two tables of 4 in close proximity to one another and then when she said we would be visiting friends and aren't local to the area told her not to come. I understand the covid situation but there is no need to be so rude to people. A shame because your food looks beautiful and we would have loved to have found a way to celebrate her milestone birthday with you.

Had an excellent meal tonight with a friend first time we’ve been out since lockdown. Service and atmosphere spot on. On specials menu I had ..... Hay smoked ham scrumpet like a giant croquette with apple cider sauce scrummy scrumpet Main of Lamb blackberry sauce perfectly complimented the lamb Sublime blackberry pavlova lived up to my expectations Thanks James and Team will be back in a couple of weeks on 3 Sept (booked as soon as I got home) for our anniversary. And happy anniversary to James too!

Oh my word what a find ! Lovely lovely hide away restaurant and pub. The staff are a delight and fantastic service . Great menu ! Now talking of menu ..... chef charlotte let me commend you on serving the absolute best ever vegetarian main of a summer platter of variations of squash ! Absolutely to die for well done ! I’ve been veggie all my life and u nailed it with this dish ! Hope the owners know how good you are ! Thank u all for a lovely experience

The staff are really helpful and accommodating. The food is fantastic. I can thoroughly recommend the Scotch egg, cooked to perfection, the burger which has fantastic flavour my mum said she thought it was the best burger she'd ever eaten, and the chocolate mousse is just sublime. truly amazing food, great menu it was so hard to choose what to have and the staff were really lovely and friendly all food was beautifully presented and such lovely flavours can't wait to go again next time we are on holiday down this way

delicious food, lovely local ales (I enjoyed the Exeter brewery Tomahawk) polite and friendly wait staff and beautiful setting, I'll definitely be back to try more of the well thought out menu.
