What a fantastic afternoon! A very welcome refuge from the rain. The setting is perfect, right on the high-street. The decor is quaint and very pretty… highly Instagramable lol! The staff are so lovely here and actually bother to take the time to engage in conversation and make you feel very welcome. The food is tasty and beautifully presented. The menu is nicely varied leaving you spoilt for choice. Speaking of spoilt… the cakes here are delicious!!! … for a change I tried something from their festive menu… the lemon and cranberry scones were a delightful twist on a classic! So accommodating and hospitable, I would highly recommend coming here if you fancy a nice bite to eat or even just a...

I’ve been twice. The first time was good. The French onion soup was delicious. The second time, we only went for a coffee but the service was appalling. The waitresses couldn’t even take our order for two drinks correctly, remember to bring us our drinks or coordinate the arrival of the drinks (I’d finished mine before my Mum received hers). This was possibly because the young ladies were more interested in looking at themselves in the mirror and preening their hair. They really couldn’t walk past the mirror without a quick glance at their reflection, then they gathered at the mirror to gossip and look at themselves. God forbid any of their customers should need assistance

This is a very pretty place, with nice retro crockery and cutlery. The staff were nice and tried to turn the volume of the music down. I had a slice of Victoria sponge, which was large, moist and pleasant. The coffee wasn't quite hot. R ordered scones which didn't come and didn't come. Upon enquiry, we were told they were being heated, which is unusual. I don't know what was done to them, but they arrived slightly charred and the texture had been destroyed. We had some difficulty communicating with our waitress, whose native tongue appeared to be English, too. I didn't know what to make of it. Réservez une table maintenant

Ordered two slices of cake to take away. One was chocolate caramel for my other half, and it was fine. I, however, ordered the gf df carrot cake. The recipe has changed over the years. It's become smaller with less icing. But this was insulting: when I opened it at home, all the icing on the outside and top layer (except for a small dollop on top) was missing, with almost bare sponge visible. There was a slight smear where icing should have been on top and sides. I must admit I have never seen a more miserable, pathetic slice of cake, and for these two slices it cost nearly £10!!

I have been to this restaurant before and had a good experience, but this time was disappointing. I ordered two vegetarian breakfasts, but both had scrambled eggs that smelled and tasted strongly of fish. It seemed like they had been cooked in the same pan as the salmon dishes on the menu. The staff denied this, but couldn't explain the fishy smell. The hash browns were undercooked and more like mashed potatoes. Overall, I was very unimpressed and will not be coming back after several visits.

A lovely venue for a family Christmas get together. The food was delicious, well presented and plentiful. The staff were engaging and so helpful and attentive. Prior to the visit I spoke with Harriet a couple of times for various food requirements, she couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. I would absolutely go back. Thank you for a wonderful visit.
