Rainy Sydney has been an incredibly welcome sight to everyone living here after seeing our land go up in flames in what has become the worst Bush fire season the country has ever seen. Anyone complaining about the rain quickly retracts their comment. It’s in the intense rain (honestly there were mini floods popping up! that we ventured out to Flour Drum, a cozy cafe in Newtown. We hoped for a lazy late afternoon lunch, but instead were met with a busy and bustling dining room filled with loads of dishes clanging and laughter. Walking in you find yourself in a dimly lit dining space. The space is a bit deceptive only once you’ve walked inside the cafe do you notice how large the actual eating...
What can I say about this beautiful tucked away food paradise. Well... I am a little bit of a foodie who isn't and I personally feel like it takes more then food to capture me. Its the whole experience. From the stunning design of the café, to the amazing presence of the staff I rushed to take a seat. The artistic style of the menu got me really excited and I was ready to order. Although I was really indecisive about what I wanted because the aroma of food in the air made me want everything!!! So I went with the pulled pork burger adding their home styled chili jam and to say the least it was ABSOLUTELY DEVINE! I would honestly move countries to have a meal from Flour Drum every day!!
Flour Drum has got to be one of my favourite brunch places in Sydney. I love the buttermilk banofee pancakes, a favourite here! The pancakes are soft and fluffy, goes well with the glazed banana, and love the other toppings including the hard toffee, the meringue and the cookie crumbs. Also had the mushroom medley and it was flavourful and not bland at all. Added bacon to it and it was super crispy! Another favourite is the cookie, but for $8 I wouldn’t say it’s the best but hey it’s great for photos!
Been going to Flour Drum since they opened and have never been disappointed. Great food and coffee and the folk who work there are always chatty and friendly. Had the eggs Benny yesterday and my wife had the salmon- both new items on the menu since our last visit. Delicious!!

Fantastic new cafe in South Newtown. Lovely environment, delicious food and delightful staff. I come here several times a week and they're always welcoming and the menu changes regularly.
I recommend this place to all my friends .. These guys Chris and jhonny will make you feel like home .. Humble people's wholesome food .. This is the place to be!! Congratulations

The food, the service, the atmosphere and the space are amazing. Great for breakfast and lunch. An all around amazing experience. Very friendly staff. Will definitely be back
