This place has such a history of supporting the cause and a great market section. It is hard to knock it back to only 4 stars but my food was only OK. I had a tofu enchinlada, which was very good but the rice was a bit dry and the beans were bland. Sour cream was amazing. I had to ask to make sure it was vegan! My family, not vegans, all had FYH Burgers . They all enjoyed the burgers but were not amazed. I think they need to up their game a bit in 2021. There is alot more competition now. UPDATED: We went back the next day for breakfast, which they are currently only doing on weekends. The old FYH quality was back so I added the star I refused to give earlier. Great place to start the day. I have been coming here since the 80's so it was with a heavy heart that I knocked them down to 4 stars again. The cafe food really slipped backwards. I used to love this place and always come when in LA because it is near home but the meals are really hit and miss, with more slight misses. Market is still great. FYH is a historic jewel in the valley for delicious vegan food and a range of unique health products. I had many unforgettable meals over the years and FYH is always with its delicious dishes and great friendly service. You cannot go wrong with any item on the menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner and you will not be disappointed with the variety of options. If you can't decide, look at some of my photos as most are a selection of my favorite items. Make sure to check the cool little gift shop and the Aisles for hard to find treats and health foods. Just note that they wear items in the Aisles that are not vegan. I'd encourage you to talk to the manager if you want to question it. Updated by previous rating on 2023-03-07
The food is good but OMG is the service awful. There were only 2 tables in the cafe when we sat down but it took 30 minutes for them to take our order. We waited another hour for the food to come. We saw the food just sitting on the counter for at least ten minutes with no one brining it to our table. Once we got the food it was cold. Majority of the waitstaff stood around doing nothing while one waiter ran around. This is not the first time we had bad service here but it was by far the worst. After almost 2 hours we finally got all our food but the quality was far under par. In true Follow Your Heart spirit they at least comped our meal. Updated from previous review on 2023-01-02
I spent about an hour in here just browsing all the amazing products.. lots of amazing supplements! Although I found some collagen that had ‘bovine collagen’ in it that was a little alarming… but I also appreciate all the artsy crafty things sold here too! And the cafe! There were so many products to choose from in this store.
