The food was dry—my chicken and waffles consisted of a heavily breaded, dry chicken breast and a waffle that was still frozen in the middle, drizzled with some mysterious black sauce and accompanied by a tiny thimble of syrup. I realize this isn’t the South, and I probably shouldn’t have expected great chicken and waffles anywhere north of the Mason-Dixon line. But it was the only dish that looked remotely decent, as the other options seemed to be bizarre culinary fusions of North Korean and Sudanese cuisine or something equally confusing.
What I was served was barely edible. The waitress appeared to have just rolled out of bed after a wild night out; she reeked of weed, booze, and whatever...
Forte is not what it used to be. Though I now live in DC, I stopped in because this used to be my favorite restaurant in Jamestown. First of all, the prices are DC prices. This cannot be sustained in Jamestown for long. The white rice that came with our meals was flavorless and cold. The meals were okay, but not for that price in Jamestown. I will say our server was very nice and attentive. The remodel makes it cold and unwelcoming. It was a vibrant atmospheric restaurant before. The floors and walls were dirty. The restaurant was barren during dinner time. The once favorite steak and beer special is now $25 and you’re limited to PBR or Phin and Matt’s. I will not be back, unfortunately.
I dined with five family members and friends in March 2024. The food was decent, but it didn't match the quality of the previous owners and chef. Unfortunately, the prices are now much higher, making it not worth the cost. The live music was so loud that we couldn't have a conversation. Since then, I've attempted to make reservations, but their online system isn't functioning, and no one has returned my phone calls. It feels like they don't care whether or not customers come in. This experience is quite disappointing compared to the original Forte.
Food was not good at all , we left there and had to grab a burger , extremely over priced for mediocre food , $45 for a extremely tiny piece of steak after eating there we were told new owners so we didn’t get to experience what food used to be that was reason why we tried it , never again

Don't go in expecting the same experience that Forte offered before COVID. I was quite disappointed. I'm really hoping the new owner can improve the kitchen and bring back the beloved experience we all remember. Update: The sushi tasted and looked like it was made at a grocery store.
We had dinner at Gorte last week to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The food for all 4 of us was delicious. The drinks we ordered were unique and delicious as well. The service was great and the ambiance is perfect for a small, intimate group. I highly recommend Forte!
The staff were all friendly and warm, however that’s where the warmth ended. Our appetizer came out (literally) 1 minute after we ordered and was cold. The salad was over dressed yet still flavorless. The gnocchi was ok. Everything was overpriced.
The fish of the day was salty and it came with extremely plain cold rice and unseasoned and uncooked/unmassaged kale that was inedible.
