PLEASE just keep driving. I have not stopped at this service station in over 30 years and it is the same dirty miserable place. I'm not going to post photos, because the photos already posted tells the story. To be honest, it just needs demolished and forgotten. I had a tea and a sandwich at the Costa upstairs, there were more flies buzzing around the lights above the staff behind the counter than at a petting zoo !! It was 9.45am and the tables and floors looked liked they have not been cleaned in ages. I used to clear my table at these places before I left, but I no longer do that, because the tables would NEVER get cleaned at all. Leaving something on the table is a good indicator to staf...
Stopped on way up to Co Durham. Went into the gents, not the cleanest, but no soap to wash your hands is unforgiveable. Disabled toilets out of order so my wife had to use the lift to go to the toilets on the upper floor. Apparently the flush in the cubicle wouldn't work as well. We were going to get a snack, but the whole place looked like it needed a damm good clean, so we didn't bother. Carried on to Burton services which is also run by Moto but totally different I can't believe one company would operate two services to such varying standards.
This place is, quite simply, a disgrace. It's dirty, run down and generally decaying with non-existent customer service. My advice would be to use the far better run services at Tebay. There was no soap in any of the toilets when we stopped off as a family and no hand sanitising dispenser anywhere to be seen, which is astonishing given the recent pandemic and the transition into the winter months. This place is a PR disaster for Moto services, and I just don't get how they can't see it. These are the basics. Avoid it.
We popped to the loos first, ladies most were out of order and the stench was worse than death! My very not precious 5 year old couldn’t bear to go and decided she’d hold it. Then we headed up to Burger King for food and wow. Every single table was littered with rubbish, filth and dead or dying wasps, the bins were overflowing and to top it off they forgot half our order. Keep driving and save yourselves! This was late on a Sunday evening and not even close to being busy.

I needed the toilet and had planned to buy food. I have difficulty climbing stairs, but do not have a toilet key. Disabled toilet was on the ground floor and locked. Ladies toilet was up a double flight of stairs which caused me difficulties, the loo flush system was not obvious and certainly didn't work. Neither did the2 of the hand dryers, the working one wasn't immediately visible at first.left without buying anything. Any staff around weren't obvious .
I don't normally write reviews slating places, but jeez, this place is something else. Absolutely filthy. We braved a coffee from Burger King, which was a complete mess, no milk, counter top was filthy. The eating area was manky, the tables were dirty and uncleared and the radiators clearly hadn't seen soap and water since the old king died. Will avoid this filthy hovel at all costs in the future.
the upper part that is it's only redeeming feature ,is no longer open it seems. Unless I didn't see the acess point And the Lower part is atrocious One of the worst i have seen in the UK. needs plenty of money spending on it to return it to its iconic status it used to have. I feel sorry for the people who have to work amongst it.
Stopped as heading home, wanted something to eat. The whole eating area was unclean lots of tables needed cleaned and the floors were also stained. Burger King meal fine, you know what your going to get. Definitely needs more regular cleaning.

Stopped for a toilet stop on route to Manchester, wouldn’t hurry back. Toilets are grim and very run down, never bothered using any of the other services.
