I have been a regular at this establishment for the past fifty years and have witnessed its transformation from a simple pub to its current form with its ups and downs. Been here a few times over the last six months and it seems to have got progressively worse. This first time was OK from memory, the second not so good (wrong order, poor steak) and the third just plain disappointing. The place is nice, tastefully decorated and clean but the main attraction, the food, is distinctly average. On the most recent visit, an item in the description was missing from the dish. I mentioned it, expecting it to be brought out only to be told it wasn’t available. Obviously it was hoped we wouldn’t notice it was missing! Been a few times before but yesterday Sunday roast was very disappointed was all over cooked and half it just frozen veg and potatoes tasteless. I had to send my wine back once because tasted very odd and 2nd one come didn't taste much better taste like been mixed with water and soapy. Shame as restaurant and staff are lovely. Get if busy but no restaurants should be serving frozen veg and potatoes. So easy and simple. Ppl come to a restaurant for a night off and £50 I could cook nicer and cheaper at home.
We held my husband’s 50th birthday in the barn. It was such a good night made even better by the friendly staff behind the bar (Kate Lily). All the arrangements went smoothly, we were able to come in at any point in the day to decorate the barn, food was delivered as requested and on time. It felt safe to leave the barn and return later. Both the girls were accommodating and kept the wine flowing! All in all a wonderful evening and would highly recommend them for your next event.

Had to wait almost an hour for our food, despite going early for lunch so it wasn't busy with two kids that's really pushing it. And they even bought out the adult meals first! There were literally tears shed. The food was meh. Don't bother with the veggie grill it's uninspired and overpriced. Oh, and the lady who greeted us was so miserable it was almost funny. I don't think we'll be back, which is a shame as we're just down the road.
The place was lovely as were the staff but the food was not up to the price tag and was cold. The mixed grill was a cold, very thin, dry steak that would have been impossible to cook to ‘medium’ as requested as it was that thin. Gammon was cold and the chicken. Very poor
First time for a roast dinner here and it was exceptional. Hot plates and hot tasty food. Lovely atmosphere In the restaurant and the service is always friendly and efficient
