Since it was my first visit, I waited in the takeout area before moving to the dining section to sit down. When I asked one of the servers for a menu, she looked at me as if I were from another planet! I asked a Puerto Rican friend for a recommendation and she suggested the arroz con gandules y carne frita, which I ordered to go. After seeing positive reviews, I opted for the shrimp mofongo, excited to hear it was packed with meat. Another friend mentioned it would come with rice and beans. When my meal arrived, I was perplexed. There were no rice and beans, nor was there the hearty meat dish I expected. Instead, I received a piping hot, soup-like gravy with a few shrimp, a small salad wit...

My wife and I started with beef empanadas as our appetizer, which were freshly made and quite tasty. For the main course, we both ordered shrimp mofongo served with yellow rice, beans, and shrimp sauce. There was an abundant amount of shrimp in this dish—definitely no skimping here! Our waitress informed us that there would be about a 25-minute wait for our meals due to the influx of takeout orders at the time. Once our food arrived, I drizzled the shrimp sauce over everything, enhancing the flavors of the mofongo and yellow rice. Just a heads up—the mofongo is quite substantial, so you might find it difficult to finish in one sitting! One important note: Freddy's only accepts cash; credit...

Pro: How do you say Woooow!!! in Spanish?!? I 'm not entirely sure, but the food at Freddy 's will help with the translation! The underwhelming facade of the establishment is hiding a lot of flavor, and I 'm happy to be there. The pork mofongo was the most meat-heavy I 've encountered; it could be more pork than plantain actually! Garlicky and rich, it was the clear star of the show. Playing a close 2nd fiddle was the Bistec Encebellado, which pleases incredibly (just not as much as the mofongo). Con: The Camden location may make it a less desirable option for some... Bottom Line: ¡Me Gusta! ¿Preguntas?

When we ordered from Freddy's at work, we knew we were in for a treat just by looking at the menu. We tried everything from tostones to pepper steak and bistec empanizado, and each dish was simply mouthwatering! Thank you, Freddy's, for evoking memories of the times I enjoyed dinner at my friends' homes, made by their parents. You also reminded me of all the beloved Spanish spots in Jersey City that hold a special place in my heart. I know this review may sound a bit dramatic, but this place truly deserves the praise—it's that good!

First time trying this place, heard alot of good things about the food. Very homey feel inside. Clean. Attentive and nice workers. I got the chicken with Spanish rice and my boyfriend had the oxtails with Spanish rice. we shared a chicken empanada and also some sweet plantains. We also got a strawberry smoothie to drink and it was BOMB! Hands down the best Spanish rice, chicken empanada and strawberry smoothie ive ever tasted!!! Pricing was really good. We spent $26.00 total. I'll be visiting again and would recommend!!!

This restaurant always satisfies my craving for good Puerto Rican/Dominican food. I typically order the roasted chicken with arroz con gandules and a side of maduros (sweet plantain). The food is constantly being brought out fresh. You can order to go at the counter or dine in. The restaurant is super clean and the staff are welcoming and friendly. Food is always delicious and their prices are very reasonable for the amount of food they give you. Definitely a hidden gem in Camden.

The food was a bit on the dry side, but still quite tasty. The plantains didn’t seem fresh enough for my liking. That said, I would be willing to try them again and give it another review because the service was fast and friendly! Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Réservez une table maintenant
