Fresko fresh food! Farm to table style restaurant. Menu rotates many items to keep it fresh and new. There are staple items on the menu too that we have enjoyed the handful of times we have visited. Excellent place for group dining.Party room can be rented and is highly encouraged. Ordered the hanger steak and shrimp tacos. Both dishes came out hot and fresh. Very tasty!The hanger steak was a beautiful unique flavor. The caramelized onion sauce gave the steak its own taste. The crunchy onions were a perfect pair. The steak was medium rare and cooked well! What a great spot to be! Ambiance is great for a first date feel. It does get a bit loud but a great place to sit and have a great meal. The food is seasonal and locally sourced. The chef's meticulously prepare the food and know what they are making so ask for their specials! We got a small sampling for their food and it was great since we were there for an event. The drinks were all made and tasty too! The zucchini soup had roasted beans and corn and some braised pork that was savory, smooth, and crunchy! All the textures you can have in one bite! This restaurant was amazing! I have several food allergies, so dining out can be challenging for me. However, they offered a wide range of options. I tried the fresko cakes, which were gluten-free and vegan, and they were delicious! The pancakes were enormous, so I loved having leftovers for breakfast the next day. Without a doubt, these were the best gluten-free vegan pancakes I've ever tasted. Our waitress was incredibly friendly, and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant was fantastic and spotless. I can't wait to return the next time I'm in Des Moines!
Delicious brunch this morning!In town for the marathon and stopped in before meeting up with friends at the finish line.We had the Healthy French Toast and the Garden Scramble (they substituted the eggs with tofu for me! . Our waitress, Emily, was very sweet and even put my coffee (with a warm up in a to go cup. Was a perfect ending to our weekend in Des Moines! What a nice town with friendly people. I visited this restaurant to celebrate my birthday with my best friend, and our server, Katie, truly made my day! She treated us to a complimentary warm brownie dessert, and while I enjoyed the house Pinot Grigio, she added a special touch that made it sparkle without changing the flavor. It was absolutely stunning! Katie is an exceptional server, and I would be thrilled to have her on my team!
First time there. Saturday brunch. Fun place. Modern urban atmosphere. Clean space serving clean food. The OJ was cold and refreshing. I had the Texas biscuits and gravy. Very good. Right amount of spice in the gravy. I asked for my eggs over easy soft. Perfection. My only critique is the biscuits were a little dry. Otherwise really good.
I only stopped in for a few drinks and had a Hendrick’s and tonic, followed by an Old Fashioned. I’m not an Old Fashioned connoisseur, but being almost 60, I’ve had my share. This one was the best I can recall in recent years. I didn’t try the food, but it looked delicious. I’ll definitely return.
