Nice to find a different style of cuisine on offer in a country town. Had read reviews and decided being a Friday evening we'd call in and make a booking rather than just turn up hoping for a table. Was a good idea, being only a smallish cafe with bookings already in, we were slotted in between other bookings to assist with ease of service. Noticed all tables were attended to in a timely manner. Living in the south east of England, we frequently travel to France through Eurotunnel for lunch and shopping. We enjoy French food and have become quite discerning. Froggies was recommended to us and we reserved a table with the French owner. We were not encouraged on arrival because the ambience is more Australian than French but that paled into insignificance when we tasted the food. We both started with Coquille St Jacques that was absolutely spot on. We went our separate ways for the main with my wife eating veal escalope in a creamy sauce which she proclaimed delicious. We chose Froggy's for an evening meal after walking past and were not disappointed. The couple running the restaurant who are from the Burgundy region are competent and charming. The menu is a range of French favourites cooked largely in traditional style. Servings are a good size with a regional rather than haute cuisine style and were all very tasty. I must confess I would not normally go to a French restaurant in a regional area like this but this place is a gem in the rough. It certainly reminded me of many of the Bistro meals I have enjoyed in the Burgundy region. Highly recommended if you are looking for flavoursome, unpretentious French cuisine. It is BYO which is another real plus.

I'd given up staying in Lakes partly because of the mediocre dining options but that has now changed for the better. Very happy with Froggies, an authentic French cafe run by a very French couple offering an excellent and varied menu. I couldn't do it justice as I wasn't hungry, but had a salad nicoise with a tarte tatin for dessert. Other diners seemed very happy with what they were eating. Service was attentive and friendly and the decor and French recorded music added to the atmosphere. I've spent some time in France so can claim some expertise. While I enjoyed the snails and my friends enjoyed their mains my meat was tough - the veal. The wait person was not friendly and there was no way she was going to do anything outside the main menu. It was basically take it as it is with no changes. They don't have a child's menu and in a holiday town like this it is essential. We asked for a toasted sandwich that was on the lunch menu for the child that was with us and we received an adamant NO. Probably a reasonable venue for adults only. BYO with pretty high corkage for an unlicensed venue.

We were recommended Froggy's by our b'n'b hosts. What an absolute treasure! We shared escargot in garlic butter (divine!), buef bourguignon and a veal dish for our mains and finally the creme caramel and creme brûlée for dessert. I ended up asking for a spoon, as I didn't want to leave a drop of the incredible sauce from my veal. We had a lovely dinner, and thoroughly enjoyed chatting to our hosts at the end of our meal. Highly recommend spoiling yourself and visiting Froggy's.

This is a place where you go to get french comfort food. Everyone in our party completely cleared their plates. Great sauces and just old fashioned french goodness. Our family enjoyed the following dishes: sirloin steak and veggies, veal medallions, beef bourguignon and pomme frites. You can bring your own wine if you would like. Our server was friendly and voila a beautiful meal was had by all.

Delightful family run restaurant - excellent food and an interesting menu to select from. It is BYO so make sure you have brought nice wine/s to go with the lovingly prepared fresh local food. The name gives the clue that the family is French and see the humour of the Aussie nickname for French people! Réservez une table maintenant
