I've been to Frosty Treat several times per year over the past five or so years as my family and I vacation in nearby Summerside. I include that detail so that you know this review comes from multiple experiences over a long period of time: don't bother with the food, the ice cream is the only reason to visit this establishment.First, the positive. The soft serve ice cream is so rich and dense, it's like a cross between regular ice cream and soft serve. I mostly just eat the ice cream plain now. Dairy Queen's soft serve is not even in the same league. Go ADL! The nutty dip is one of my favorites, perfect combo of ice cream, peanuts and chocolate. It's the best when the chocolate dip is still warm. The deep fried Mars bar is also amazing. It should come standard with peanuts but doesn't so be sure to ask for some. The negative: the food they serve is poor quality and most of the time isn't prepared well. What inspired me to finally rate this restaurant was the chicken and ribs. The chicken was over cooked (which you actually have to try and do with thigh and drumstick meat) and the ribs (the cheap ribs with the flat bones) were tough and pink in parts. The gravy was bland and watery and the veggies were mushy. All of this for the low low price of $20! They only have frozen French fries which should be illegal in the potato province. In fact, nothing on their menu seems fresh or homemade. And if someone from Frosty Treat reads this and disagrees, if the food is fresh it's prepared so terribly as to remove that quality of the food. The only thing I've never tried on their menu are the sandwiches.Their staff don't know anything and always have to go find someone even for the simplest question which is probably due to a poorly trained seasonal workforce but is frustrating for the customer nonetheless. It's tough cause as a dairy bar it's a 5 but as a restaurant it's a 1 and so I rated it a 3.
