We decided to visit Fukuoka for a special birthday meal. Admittedly we are not loyal customers to the restaurant but having visited the restaurant a few times over the years and both loving Japanese food , we were willing to go here again. From the minute we arrived, it was noticeable that it was quiet. Of course this was to be expected as it was a Sunday night. On the other hand by 8:40 pm, and aside from the odd person coming in for a takeaway, we were the only ones left in the restaurant. Fukuoka never fails to impress, whether you dine in or take away. The sushi is exceptional, with favorites like the dragon roll, red tiger roll, and hand rolls. For those who don't enjoy fish, they have options like the chicken katsu roll and hoisin duck roll. The bento boxes and noodle dishes are also highly recommended by my parents. The cozy atmosphere of the limited seating and traditional floor seating adds to the dining experience. The takeaway service is convenient and the quality is top-notch, with complimentary miso soup given with every order. I highly recommend this restaurant and can't praise it enough.
Our family of 4, or just my wife and I have been loyal customers since 2015! We love the sushi and the quality of the food remains very high. However, we recently realised that in the last month prices, virtually across the menu, have been raised by approx 30%!!! Now, one could argue that we can make this sushi place a once every couple of months treat to ourselves, but these prices for take out are inexplicable. These are not London, but Zurich prices. We will not reward greedy behaviour on the owner side even if the quality of the food remains great. Thanks, but no thanks.
I went into the restaurant for a quick meal and the person who welcomed me was not very good at customer service (rude, abrupt... . After I sat down, he informed me that they only accept cash...! Who only accepts cash, especially during Covid! The nearest ATM is quite a distance away on the main Shirley High Street. The restaurant was empty at 6pm, probably because the food has become quite expensive there now (we're not in London! and because people don't typically carry cash anymore.

We used to visit here regularly before lockdown the food was good but nothing special. It has now massively improved! We’ve now been about 7 times in the last 3 weeks! Delicious sushi! Really fresh well presented. Lovely waitress she seems to work on her own is always so pleasant efficient. Great value. We’ve been to Gaijin Sushi in Birmingham a few times which is excellent but we’ve found the sushi here to be delicious too not as far to travel. We’ll be back next week!
Me and my partner came here for a date night and I must say it was so so lovely ! Absolutely delicious food and will definitely be coming back for more date nights in the future, it’s brilliant treat for anyone . The staff were super friendly and provided everyone with exceptional hospitality, the decor is also beautiful and authentic ! Felt very relaxed. please please visits this place if you love Japanese food
Excellent food and service. Lovely little place with a wide selection of Japanese dishes. We took fired tofu as starter and then bentos. I took the eel, my wife salmon, our friend chicken and my daughter, who is vegetarian, the tofu. They were all great and nice to see. Be aware that payment is only cash but there is an HSBC bank 100 meters away.
Hands down my favourite place for authentic Japanese cuisine and has been for years. Whether I pop in for a quick takeaway or sit inside with friends and family, it’s always delicious and they never fail to offer excellent service. If you haven’t visited (which you absolutely must! don’t forget to bring cash as they’re a cash-only establishment.

This cozy neighborhood restaurant offers casual dining. It was bustling with takeout orders during my visit. The service is not overly formal or attentive, but the freshly prepared food is delicious and well worth the affordable price. I highly recommend it for a tasty meal. I will definitely be returning.
Quality sushi and always quite a pleasant experience. One gripe is for as long as we’ve been frequenting here...they still ONLY accept CASH. So -1* just for that reason.
