absolutely phenomenal. I usually stick to veggie sushi, but my sister got the spicy tuna roll and I HAD to try it, and it was unbelievable. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was better than some of the sushi I've had in Japan. the staff are lovely, professional but welcoming, everything is stunningly clean and the decor is beautiful, and the chef was extremely knowledgeable about his ingredients and was able to explain the exact sourcing of the fish. completely, utterly fantastic. I live hours away from Birmingham, and I can't wait for the next time life brings me there because I am heading STRAIGHT to Gain Sushi. oh, and the miso soup is divine. so, so, so, SO good! Standout dishes included: 1. Tempura crab salad 2. Yellowtail Carpaccio 3. Chef’s Nigiri Selection (the flame-grilled pieces were my favorite) The atmosphere was a bit quiet, even though we visited on a Saturday night. I would suggest the owners ramp up their marketing efforts to attract more weekend diners. Overall, it was a great experience, and I plan to return.
