The pub was quite empty, and we placed our orders for food and drinks. They offered a good variety of ales on tap, including my favorite, Spitfire, but we settled for Master Brew as it was the only one available at the time (my wife opted for a bitter). We ordered scampi and chips along with a side of onion rings. The scampi, priced at £8.99, seemed like a decent value. Unfortunately, it took a while for our food to arrive, and we were served what felt like a 'bucket' of chips and another 'bucket' of scampi. The portions were not oversized, but once served on the plate, they seemed adequate enough. That said, the triple-cooked chips were a bit too greasy for my taste. On the positive side,...

I couldn't find any reason to rate with stars less then five. I live in Higham but never bothered to visit here. We always drive to far places like Maidstone, Longfield etc for weekend dining. Decided to give it a try here. Food was awesome and yummy. Very friendly staff members. I ordered Lamb Chops which was served with tender peas and chips. Chips was little oily which can be forgiven compared to the delicious Lamb and tender peas. I will be a regular visitor here at least once a week. Hand picked choice of ingredients. Thanks.

I was researching my family history related to a cook in Higham and decided to visit this wonderful local pub. My father used to enjoy having a whisky or two there! He literally lived just down the street in 1952. The pub is rich in history and offers a warm welcome. I had delightful conversations with Sarah, John, and Poppy, who were all incredibly helpful in my search. The atmosphere is beautiful, and the home-cooked meals are delicious. I highly recommend this place!

My parents and I enjoyed a wonderful lunch at The Gardener's Poor today after taking a morning walk around Higham Village. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the staff was both friendly and attentive. The food was delicious – we all opted for the deluxe burger, which offered fantastic value for money. It's great to know that dogs are also welcome, which is an added bonus. We will definitely be back soon! Réservez une table maintenant
