I believe the Garwood Grill history goes back through several owners to the early to mid 1940’s. I’ve been going there for forty odd years. The decor is dated now but I went through two renos over the period. That aside, their great food and super friendly service has never changed. On my last visit a few days back I had the club house and fries and it’s still up there with the best. I guess I have sampled most of their relatively unchanged menu over the years. The pizza is wonderful but very filling, Spaghetti dishes, souvlaki and burgers are top. My only complaint is their Greek salad. Only come to the Garwood if you are hungry! Not peckish or just wanting a small nosh. The portions are large and oh so good! Anna and her parents welcome you like a long lost friend and that is great! I have not had a bad meal here. If you show up don't be surprised if the tables are full. It is worth the wait. A table will open soon and you will get to sit down and order up something very tasty. I love the home made soups, they are all wonderful. I am a huge fan of the chicken Greek salad. I had always avoided the Garwood Grill, mostly because it does not fit my normal perception of a good dinner venue. It is a casual neighbourhood place. It is a diner and has no pretense in terms of fit, finish, and comfort. it is basic. I dined on the lasagna, which came recommended by by dining companion. I was thoroughly impressed. The portion size was substantial, it was tasty, it came with a slice of garlic toast on the side, and for a couple of dollars I added the perfectly good meatballs. Service was attentive and pleasant. I was suitably surprised and impressed.
I was at this location many years ago over the lunch hour with my manager and a salesman. I recall their pizza being so delicious. I thought I would try this location again, so took my son and daughter in law from Fort McMurray. The greek salad only had tomatoes, feta cheese, onions and lettuce, no green peppers, olives, or cucumbers. The pizza was their specialty pizza, but found the ham so thick and the sauce watery. It tasted ok but not like I remember a few years ago. We wont be back. Excellent waitress though.
Eaten here twice now, once for lunch and once for breakfast. Both times the food was fantastic. Breakfast had very good portion size and lots of options under $10, which you don't find much these days. I've also tried one of their burger platters a couple months ago and it was really good. Staff is always awesome! Very attentive very friendly. Fast friendly service. I will definitely be back again.
Two couples taking in one of the older places to eat on the North Pembina strip. Place was packed. Our order was late in coming but tastey. Three people loved their pizzas. One beef and mush and the other feta and black olive. I had the Clubhouse which was very good . Real turkey but missing cheese? Besides the wait...overall good time at the Garwood Grill.
