We also like the Ochsen, in Rust. But, on a night when this and other Main Street restaurants were curtly turning people away, the Alte Schmiede welcomed and served us with a smile. It was also busy. We were surrounded by German voices, which I think is a positive sign. We enjoyed good value jäger schnitzel, chips, beef stroganoff & home made spätzle.
Went to go here on our last night as a treat only to find ourselves in the middle of a German street party!! The restaurant had a food stand outside and we purchased chicken on the spit with chips for the kids and steak and chips for ourselves. Lovely food and great hosts! Excellent atmosphere with a brass band playing in the background.
After a hard day's "work" at the Europa park we arrived somewhat tired and hungry. The host made us feel welcome right away. The service was very friendly, the food and the local beer was very good, great value for money. We would definitely come back here.
Nothing really special, but the food was pretty good and the service was acceptable. On the evening we ate here it was empty, so it may be a good choice for a busy summers evening when Ochsen is busy. Réservez une table maintenant
