We stayed 1 night at the restaurant and guesthouse Rose.GuesthouseAt the phone, we were told the rooms are ready at 16:30, which is already quite late. When we arrived at 17:00, we had to wait another 45 minutes (!) for the room. However, they were not able to provide a key for the room until 19:00, when we went for dinner, so we could not leave until then. The beers we had while waiting were not on the house, which would have been a nice gesture.The rooms were sparse, but clean. The water from the tap in the room was brown and seems to not have been used in a while. We had to let it run several minutes to be able to brush our teeth.In addition, we were told that breakfast was not available before 09:30, which was too late for us plus at a price of CHF 15 p.P. in my opinion rather costly. The reason for this was that the landlady needed to get some sleep because her children kept her sleep-deprived recently. Asking for alternatives, the staff recommended a bistro by the lake that opens at 7:00. The next day, we found out it opens at 08:30. As we were already in hiking gear, we started into the day without even getting a coffee.RestaurantThe restaurant was rather crowded and lots of places reserved. Unfortunately, a group of drunken guys bellowed outside loudly, which disturbed not only us but the other guests in the restaurant as well. We ordered starters and main course. The main course arrived a full 1.5 h after we placed our orders. Another 20 minutes later, we were almost finished with the main course, we received a plate of vegetables which apparently didn't belong to our ordered meals and was supposed to be "on the house". The food was good, but the waiting time definitely too long and the staff seemed to be slightly confused.Altogether, our stay at the Gasthaus Rose was an experience I need not repeat soon.
We have been here a couple of times in the past. The tip for this restaurant is to call ahead and order the Hot Pot, make sure you do this 2 days in advance. It costs 49.- per person and you become a starter, hot pot main course and a desert. The starter is many small items, spring rolls, etc..For the main you become a cooker fill with a hot and spicy boullion, then one adds different meat, fish and vegetables. Served with rice and different sauces. The main course is all you can eat I believe, because they kept on filling up the items we used. Desert is their fruit salat, nothing special.In the front of the restaurant to sit is not so nice, no atmosphere like sitting in a Beiz, and to make it worse they play the local radio station. (Think of listening to Lady Gaga while enjoying a nice meal, not nice!) Do to lack of space in the back room when you order hot pot you sit up front. The back room has more Thai atmosphere, but the seating there is too close, be prepared to share your table with strangers. Overall the food was really good, same goes for the Ala carte items, hopefully they will change the front seating around soon
