Occasionally you stumble across a restaurant that you just know will be amazing. Walking down the path from the Neuen Gartens to what appears to be a charming restaurant in an old factory on the lakeside, the patio and trappings make you think you found the Holy Grail of beer gardens. And the beer is indeed good. But the service so un-welcoming and food so average, you walk away disappointed. You get the sense that the staff or restaurant may just loathe tourists. Or maybe people. We have been at the Meierei because we were hiking through the parks of Potsdam. We had lunch there and what was really outstanding was the beer. We tried two different kind of their self brewed beer and both were amazing. For the food they wouldn´t get a very good rating. The Schnitzel was ok but without anything on the plate than the Schnitzel and the french fries and the grilled cheese with salad was not really tasty. So we enjoyed the excellent beer but for the food we would not come back.
After visiting the Cecilienhof Castle we walked here for refreshments. It is a brewery with their own really nice beer. Try the 'Mai Bock' if you are visiting in May. Best ever ! Berliner Weiße red or green for the Ladies ! Food looked basic like Bratwurst and such. As we did not eat there I would'nt want to comment. We took the water Taxi back to the habour/city centre, which stops right next to this place.
...but then I should have realized that this was primarily a brewery! So I had a Berliner Weisse mit Schuss (pink) which was delicious and their dessert of the day: Schupfnudeln mit Zimt, Zucker und Apfelmus. Fascinating but not that impressive... My husband was not up to their own brewed beer and had a spritzer. Service was fine, the view of the lake, even with a grey sky, was good.

We had nearly 20 people. We had a reservation. We sat next to the river and had about a three hour meal of local food, great beer and wine and very nice servers. About half the party were local and saw many friends as the evening passed. For a great local brauhaus style meal, you can't beat it.
This restaurant was in the route of our bike tour and recommended by the rental personal. Sits in a beautiful place by the water in the Neuen Garden.They brew their own beer - GREAT!The food was very good and the staff, although with a poor English, was very helpful and happy.
Was taken here by a German colleague and the beer was absolutely first class, the food menu is not extensive but what is offered is of a high quality. Will be going back later this week before I go home and if in the area again will certainly revisit !
Perfectly situated on the bank of the Jungfernsee lake we enjoyed home made beer and a variation of German sausages. We chose the section with service at the table, but if it is occupied you just walk a few more steps to the bigger self service area.
